AL East is very tough this year - we're bouncing between 3rd and 4th in the AL East, but that's still enough to be the 4th or 5th best team in the AL altogether...

As I think of it, we have done pretty good despite of all the injuries (Beckett, Matsuzaka, Ellsbury, Cameron) and funks. (Beckett again, Lackey, Ortiz, Matsuzaka again, Martinez, Okajima etc)
We are still in the race.

We all will succumb to the Death Rays of Tampa Bay. Admit it! Accept our fate and be done with it! The sooner we stop struggling, the sooner it will all be over.

Wow. The first pitch Daniel Nava sees in the major leagues and he hoofs it out of the park for a grand slam...

And he comes up an inning later with the bases loaded again and strikes out.

Nice debut.

If the playoffs started today, we'd have the 3rd best record in the MLB and yet still not qualify. It's going to be such a shame that if we, the Yankees and Rays all carry on like this one of the three will miss out on the playoffs. I think that if that happened there'd have to be serious discussion about un-divisioning the leagues and the top 4 teams from a balanced schedule make it through.

They should make that radical change because of this one occurrence?

The Rays have started to cool off and the Sox are tied with them. Hopefully, the team can salvage one game in Denver

A 2-1 loss followed by an 8-6 loss is tough to swallow, but I'm sure Ubaldo was happy Daniel Nava doesn't play in the NL. He was on fire last night

I am not too comfortable with Daisuke starting tonight at Coors Field, but hopefully he will somehow manage to get the job done.
I think the team has done pretty well for the last month or so, getting back to where they are right now with all the injuries.

I agree. The injuries have been coming in waves. Beckett should be back fairly soon barring any setbacks and hopefully Ellsbury will be OK after the all-star break.

I think Lackey needs to start pitching better though. I know he's 8-3, but he's been getting a ton of run support. He's been brutal IMHO in the games I've seen him pitch

I am hoping all of the players you mentioned (including Matsuzaka) will do real well in the heat of the summer.
Let's hope that the best is yet to come for our team!

When it rains, it pours:

Ellsbury, Hermida, Dice-K, Beckett, and Lowell. Now, Pedey and Bucholz tonight. Darn. I sure hope the team can survive this wave of injuries.

This is getting ridiculous, isn't this?
All I can do right now is hope for the rains, and pretend everything is ok with the Red Sox, and then watch the World Cup Soccer! (So that I would not have time or energy to watch the baseball games)

Martinez broke his thumb My goodness.....at least the team is winning though and Lester pitched great. He's rounding into form now. If the team can keep winning in spite of all the injuries, things look good
