This is amazing. Whomever wins is ruined for the next match, but it's still great drama.

What are they going to do now? The winner of this match is supposed to play tomorrow.

They will be just in the same game, I think the umpire took pity on them.

It's too bad they couldn't finish it today, would've really be something to see them after 10 or 11 hours.

I understand that. But what happens to the winner? Does he have to turn around and play the next match tomorrow?

The tournament can(and probably should) delay that match, but they don't have to. Extenuating circumstances like this can result in multiple matches on the same day in ATP tournaments, and the Slams which are not ATP events have more leeway to basically do what they want.

This match is so unbelievably epic that even IBM Slam-Tracker can't keep up with it(note the line near the top): " + text + space + "

Yeah, I saw that. Also the score board at the stadium had trouble once it got to 47-47. It was 48-48 and it was still stuck at the point before.

It's almost like a rain delay, I'm thinking it's over in around 5 games tomorrow but if it's not then what do they do they can't just put the whole tournament on hold for one game can they ?

The thing is that it's never happened before, so it's unknown territory, but they'll probably progress the rest of the field as normal and hope this match isn't delayed again tomorrow with it still tied at 175-175. At some point they'd have to hold up the rest, because it'll create a big hole in the draw.

Some of the mind-boggling facts about this match:

** The fifth set(so far) has by itself been longer than any other tennis match in history(7:06 to 6:33)

** Both players have smashed the record for aces in a match: 193 combined which is more than double the previous record.

** In terms of # of games played, the fifth set is almost three times as long already as the previous record(21-19)

I'm having a hard time believing this is actually happening. Totally nutso.

trola, and while you're in OT, please sign-up for The OOTP Baseball Challenge, the Off Topic Stock Racing League, and the Off Topic Fighting Championship. Good times will be had by all or your money back! that was a joke, no actual money will change hands in either direction

For those interested in it (not my posts obviously, but the match), it's scheduled third on Court 18 after two ladies singles matches, but not starting before 15:30 UK, so 10:30 EDT or later.
I just hope we get at least another set's worth of games.

If I'm to sell my soul to the devil I'd want more for it than posting on a regular basis in OT

It might be in danger of the 255 rollover bug!
