I am taking control of the Washington Nationals rookie league team, the GCL Nationals, and I am going to try and do the improbable or impossible, rise through the Nationals minor league system and eventually lead the Nationals to the World Series, and hopefully eventually become a dynasty.

I am using OOTP 8.

Subject: Grooming for Greatness: GLC(WSH) selects Ryan Blosser to make it happen.

It's official. Ryan Blosser is the new GM for the GLC(WSH) Nationals. The hiring has been in the rumor mill for the last few weeks, but the club made it official today!

Terms of the deal were not announced...

My team is pitching heavy and severly depleted on offence. We have had to move several players out of position, including using backup catchers and first basemen for CF and 2B. At any rate, here are the ratings of my current starting lineup and pitching staff...

Monkeyman576 Wins In Professional Managerial Deubt, 5-3

It was a great day for Monkeyman576, who won in his minor league coaching debut with the Washington Nationals Rookie League Squad in a thrilling 5-3 victory.

The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Nationals quickly responded with 3 runs in the second inning to make it 3-2. The Cardinals then tied the game at 3-3 in the 7th inning with a run, but the Nationals again showed their resiliancy by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Nationals bullpen showed their stuff for the final 2.2 innings and Washington improved to 1-0 on the season.

Vela, the Nationals shortstop and leadoff hitter was the standout individual hitter for Washington, going 3-5 with 3 RBI's. DH Jones had two hits and two RBI's as well.

D. Jones, the Nationals starter, went 6.1 innings and gave up 3 earned runs to earn the quality start. Raul Jarmillo got the nationals first save of the season.

Monkeyman576 loses second game 7-3

As thrilling as the opening day win was for Monkeyman576, the second game was just as much of a dissapointment.

The Dodgers scored 3 runs in the first two innings, breaking out to an early lead. The Nationals bullpen could not keep it close, as the Dodgers scored twice in the 4th and twice in the sixth.

There were some bright spots for the Nationals offence though, Jennings, the right fielder, was 4 for 5 on the day, raising his average to .400. Padgett, Mason, and Logan each had RBI's. Tavarez, the Nationals starter, pitched 5.1 innings and gave up 4 earned runs in the loss.

Next, the Nationals play the Mets, whose rookie team is also 1-1 on the season. The Nationals sit a half game back in the standings as this was the Dodgers first game of the season and they sit now at 1-0.

Nationals lose second straight, fall 11-4 to Mets

The Nationals had another tough outing, losing 11-4 in a game that was only really close for the first couple of innings before it got ugly, dropping to 1-2 on the season.

The Mets got a hit from every player, including 3 from Del Campo, and a 3 run home run from Monfode. The Nationals got their first home runs of the season, back to back dingers from Bowen and Van Campen.

The Nationals starter, Carr, lasted only 2.1 innings, and gave up 5 ER(8 total runs) on 8 hits. The Nationals defence didn't help either as they gave up 3 errors.

Then Nationals have June 22nd off to lick their wounds, before they play the Marlins who are also 1-2 on the season.

Nats lose 3rd straight on walk off Marlins single

It was a heartbreaker for the Nationals rookie league team as they held the Marlins scoreless for 5 straight innings, only to give up a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth to lose the game.

The Nationals broke out of the gate quickly with an early 3-0 lead, sparked by an Eddie Jones double with two on and two out in the first inning. Then the Marlins scored 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd innings to tie the score at 3-3.

After that it was a pitchers duel as both sides were held scoreless in the 4th through 8th innings. In the top of the ninth the Nationals got off to a quick start with a Mesa single, then McMillian successfully sacrificed Mesa over to 2nd base. Vela was able to get another single with Mesa in scoring position, but good defence prevented Mesa from getting the go ahead run. The Marlins then got out of the jam as Jennings grounded into a 4-6-3 double play.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Marlins' Smith walked on four straight pitches, Hirose grounded into a fielders choice, Castro grounded out, allowing Hirose to advance to second base, and then Barrett hit the game winning single.

The Nationals fell to 1-3, and the Marlins improved to 2-2. The Nationals sit two games back of the 1st place Cardinals, who are 3-1. The Nats will have a chance to gain ground next game as they face the Cardinals themselves.

Nationals lose 4th Straight, 3-1 against Cardinals

After what began with a promising start with an opening day win, things were quickly beginning to unravel for the Nationals, who lost 3-1 against the rookie league Cardinals Sunday night.

The Nationals started off well, scoring on a squeeze play after getting two runners on in the 2nd inning, giving them a temporary 1-0 lead. But the Cardinals scored 2 runs in the 4th on a Schweitzer 2 run double. They would add one more in the 6th, and the Nationals were never able to mount a rally.

The Nationals pitcher, Gibson, put in a respectable performance, giving up 3 runs in 6 innings, while walking only two hitters and striking out none. McMillian was the leader offensively, going 2 for 4 and raising his season average to .300.

Next, the 1-4 Nationals play the Dodgers, who are 2-2 on the season.

Nats Losing Streak Extends To 5 in 4-2 Loss

The Nationals woes continued as their offence wasn't able to produce enough support against the Dodgers in a 4-2 loss that extended the Nats losing streak to 5 in a row.

The Dodgers started off quickly in the 2nd inning with a single, double and double which scored the two prior baserunners. They scored again on a fielders choice, and then got another double and single which gave them a 4-0 lead early on.

The Nationals tried to make a comeback late in the game, but it wasn't to be. In the 7th inning, they got 2 runs and 4 hits, which brought the game to 4-2 Dodgers. In the 9th inning, the Nationals got a walk and a single, but a game ending double play dashed their hopes yet again.

In their next game, against the Mets, the Nationals would be sending out Tavarez, who struggled in his first start. THe Mets would be pitching Sanchez, who was injured after 1.2 innings and was still listed as "day to day".

Nats end losing streak in 3-2 win over Mets

It's been a tough start for the Nationals, but a few lineup changes and a nice 2nd start for Tavarez produced divedends in a close 3-2 win.

After a nice start by Van Campen, the Nationals manager rewarded him by moving him up to the cleanup spot from 9th, and he responded going 2 for 5 with a double.

Starter Tavarez pitched well, going 7 innings and giving up only 1 run. Designated closer Aaron James pitched a perfect 9th inning, striking out two out of three batters in securing the win, which raised the Nats record to 2-5 on the year. The Nationals hope they can build on this win.

The Nationals have June 27th off, but will play the next day against the Marlins. They will send Adam Carr to the mound, who struggled mightily in his first start, only lasting 2.1 innings. Hopefully he will do better this time around, but the Nats will probably have a short leash on him. They will be pitching against Corey Madden, who had a no decision in his first start, giving up 4 runs in 8 innings.

Nationals lose 7-0 to Marlins

Aaron Carr struggled again for the Nationals, putting his spot in the rotation in doubt, giving up 5 runs in 3 innings. The bullpen did a little better, giving up only 2 runs in 6 innings, but it was too little too late as the Natioanls continued to underperform.

The Marlins had 11 hits and 5 stolen bases to make things difficult on Nationals pitching. A 5 run 3rd inning made a comeback all but impossible for Washington. Carr's ERA through 2 games was 16.56.

In other news, Clevelands Yohermyn Chavez was named player of the week, with a .474 average, 6 RBI's, 2 runs scored, and a home run.

In the next game, Zack Baldwin pitches for the Nats, who gave up 2 runs in 7 innings in a no decision in his first start. He goes up against the Cardinals Eddie Dergerman, who is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 2 starts.

Nationals win thrilling 13 inning game, find new starter

The Nationals won their third game of the season, and Song-i Song pitched the final 3.1 innings of the game, giving up only 2 hits, earning himself a place in the starting rotation to replace the battered Adam Carr.

Things looked bad early, as the Cardinals built up a 7-2 lead. But the Nationals scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, behind a 2 on, 0 out double from Logan, then scored 2 runs in the 9th inning, when Figurero hit a pinch hit double with 2 on and no outs.

Fans held their breath for 3 extra innings, as both the Cardinals and Nationals squandered chances. Finally, in the 13th, Alvarez hit a double, Estrella hit a sacrifice bunt to move him to 3rd, and then Figuero hit his second double of the game to win it 8-7.

Mark Van Campen got his second home run of the year in the 1st inning. Van Campen is tied for 2nd in the league in the power hurting league, only Jonathan Walterbury, the Canadien first baseman of the Twins, has more.

The Nationals improved to 3-6 with the win, and sit 3 games back of the first place Cardinals with the win. Next they play the Dodgers, who are 4-4 on the season. The Nationals pitch Desmond Jones, who is 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA on the season. The Dodgers pitch Travis Webb, who is starting off well with a 2-0 record and a 2.40 ERA.

Nationals win two in a row for first time of the season, 6-4 against Dodgers.

The Nationals had a tough challenge in beating Webb, who had started the season with two good starts, but Washington came up with a quick remedy, namely Figuero's grand slam home run in the 1st inning. The Nationals pullpen did the job from there, giving up only 1 run in 5.1 innings.

The lineup and pitching staff changing seem to be paying off for the Nationals, who have now won 3 out of their last 4 and sit at 4-6 on the season, hopefully poised to make a run towards being an elite team in the league. The Cardinals won 5-2 against the Mets, so the Nationals were unable to gain any ground in the standings.

Figuero is on a hot streak, having only played in two games and already having 8 RBI's to lead the team. Despite his Spanish/Italian sounding name, Figuero is actually of Chineese orgin.

The Nationals can climb out of last place if they win against the Mets, who they happen to be tied with in the standings. They'll be pitching against Eduardo Cameron, who his making his first start of the year for the Mets, but boasts 6/3/1/9 ratings. He should be a challenge for the Nationals. The Nationals will be sending Tavarez to the mound, who is 1-1 on the year with a 3.65 ERA.

Mets stay out of gutter, slay Nationals 7-0

The rookie league Mets beat the Washington Nationals 7-0 tonight, avoiding being the first team besides the Nationals to be in last place this season.

Cameron, who was pitching his first start of the season, was in top form, giving up only two hits in 8.1 innings pitched. Yarborough was the player of the game offensively for the Mets, going 3 for 4, scoring a run, and driving in an RBI.

The Nationals fall to 4-7 on the season. The Nationals face off against the Marlins next, who are 6-5 on the season. The Natioanls will send Gibson to the mound, who is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. The Marlins send Taylor to the mound, who is 0-1 with a 2.93 ERA.

The Nationals thought it would be an easy game after breaking out to a 6-0 lead through five innings, but that turned out not to be the case. The Marlins scored 3 in the 6th inning and 1 in the 7th, giving the Nationals fans something to worry about. But setup man Woodruff and closer James did their job and secured the win, allowing the Nationals to improve their record to 5-7 on the season.

Padgett, Van Campen, and Piguero continued to provide the bulk of the Nationals offence, going a combined 5-11 with 5 RBI's. Starting pitcher Gibson improved his record to 1-1 on the season, lowering his ERA to 2.45. James got his second save of the season.

In other news, the Twins Jonathan Waltenbury was named player of the week, going 9-21 with 7 RBI's and 2 HR's during that time period. He's batting .353 on the year.

In their next game, Song-i Song(sing together everyone!) will make his debut as a starter after wowing coaches in the bullpen. He'll face the Guatemalan born Jesus Rivera, who is making his pitching debut for the Cardinals.

Nationals squander lead, excellent debut by Song, and lose 5-3

The Nationals spoiled an excellent opportunity to get closer to .500. Song-i Song sparkled in his debut, pitching 5.1 innings and giving up only 1 earned run, and striking out 4.

The Cardinals and Nationals traded runs in the bottom of the second and top of the 3rd. They traded runs again in the top and bottom of the 6th to make it 2-2. The Nationals scored a run in the top of the 7th to make it 3-2, and given their strong bullpen, they thought they had a good chance of winning. But the Cardinals responded with a 3 run 8th and the Nationals weren't able to do anything in the 9th, and the Cardinals came away with the win.

The Nationals fell to 5-8 on the season and the season series with the first place Cardinals is tied at 2-2. Next the Nationals, who will be pitching Desmond Jones(0-1, 4.76 ERA), and will be going against Roger Boone of the Dodgers, who went 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA in the OGD, but is making his first start in the GCL.

Nationals lose 5-0, Jones loses 2nd Game

Boone of the Dodgers threw a two hitter, and the Dodgers offence had 15 hits themselves as they routed the Nationals to improve to 8-5, and take over first place in the GCL East from the Cardinals.

In other news, the Nationals got a new starting pitcher, Earl Dixon, who had a 2.95 ERA in 29 innings in Single A ball. He should be placed immediatley into the Nationals starting rotation.

In the Major Leagues, the Nationals are struggling with a 35-51 record midway through the season. The Red Sox and Nationals are tied for first place in the AL East, the Twins lead the AL Central, and the Angels hold a half game lead over the Rangers in the AL West. In the NL, the Phillies lead the NL East, the Astros lead the NL Central, and the Dodgers lead the NL West.

Nationals lose 8-0 in Dixon's debut

Earl Dixon made his rookie league debut the day after being called "up", but struggled as he gave up six earned runs in 4.1 innings, and the Nationals lost 8-0.

Holdzkom got his first win of the season for the Mets, and pitched a two hitter and a complete game to boot.

The Nationals rookie league team lost their third in a row and their record dropped to 5-10 on the season.

Nationals start quick, rally late, still lose

The Nationals scored in the first three innings en route to an early 2-0 lead, but gave up a 4 run 3rd inning and a run each in the 4th and 5th to fall behind 6-3. The Nats scored a run in the 7th and 8th innings to close it to 6-5, but gave up three runs in the 9th, and the Nationals woes continued, and Talvarez failed to be the first National to win two games.

Vela, Figuero, and McMillian each had two hits for the nationals. Castro lead the Marlins with 3 hits, while Hensley had two hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI's. Carr performed better in the bullpen then he had as a starter, giving up only 1 run in 4.2 innings in relief.

Next the Nationals face the 8-8 Cardinals, the Nats sit at a dismal 5-11. The Nationals pitch Song in his 2nd start, the Cardinals pitch Jesus Rivera, who is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA.

monkeyman576 Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 3,692	Monkeyman576 Wins In Professional Managerial Deubt, 5-3 It was a great day for Monkeyman576, who won in his minor league coaching debut with the Washington Nationals Rookie League Squad in a thrilling 5-3 victory. The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Nationals quickly responded with 3 runs in the second inning to make it 3-2. The Cardinals then tied the game at 3-3 in the 7th inning with a run, but the Nationals again showed their resiliancy by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Nationals bullpen showed their stuff for the final 2.2 innings and Washington improved to 1-0 on the season. Vela, the Nationals shortstop and leadoff hitter was the standout individual hitter for Washington, going 3-5 with 3 RBI's. DH Jones had two hits and two RBI's as well. D. Jones, the Nationals starter, went 6.1 innings and gave up 3 earned runs to earn the quality start. Raul Jarmillo got the nationals first save of the season.

The Dodgers scored 3 runs in the first two innings, breaking out to an early lead. The Nationals bullpen could not keep it close, as the Dodgers scored twice in the 4th and twice in the sixth. There were some bright spots for the Nationals offence though, Jennings, the right fielder, was 4 for 5 on the day, raising his average to .400. Padgett, Mason, and Logan each had RBI's. Tavarez, the Nationals starter, pitched 5.1 innings and gave up 4 earned runs in the loss. Next, the Nationals play the Mets, whose rookie team is also 1-1 on the season. The Nationals sit a half game back in the standings as this was the Dodgers first game of the season and they sit now at 1-0.

monkeyman576 Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 3,692	Nationals lose second straight, fall 11-4 to Mets The Nationals had another tough outing, losing 11-4 in a game that was only really close for the first couple of innings before it got ugly, dropping to 1-2 on the season. The Mets got a hit from every player, including 3 from Del Campo, and a 3 run home run from Monfode. The Nationals got their first home runs of the season, back to back dingers from Bowen and Van Campen. The Nationals starter, Carr, lasted only 2.1 innings, and gave up 5 ER(8 total runs) on 8 hits. The Nationals defence didn't help either as they gave up 3 errors. Then Nationals have June 22nd off to lick their wounds, before they play the Marlins who are also 1-2 on the season.

monkeyman576 Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 3,692	Nats lose 3rd straight on walk off Marlins single It was a heartbreaker for the Nationals rookie league team as they held the Marlins scoreless for 5 straight innings, only to give up a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth to lose the game. The Nationals broke out of the gate quickly with an early 3-0 lead, sparked by an Eddie Jones double with two on and two out in the first inning. Then the Marlins scored 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd innings to tie the score at 3-3. After that it was a pitchers duel as both sides were held scoreless in the 4th through 8th innings. In the top of the ninth the Nationals got off to a quick start with a Mesa single, then McMillian successfully sacrificed Mesa over to 2nd base. Vela was able to get another single with Mesa in scoring position, but good defence prevented Mesa from getting the go ahead run. The Marlins then got out of the jam as Jennings grounded into a 4-6-3 double play. In the bottom of the ninth, the Marlins' Smith walked on four straight pitches, Hirose grounded into a fielders choice, Castro grounded out, allowing Hirose to advance to second base, and then Barrett hit the game winning single. The Nationals fell to 1-3, and the Marlins improved to 2-2. The Nationals sit two games back of the 1st place Cardinals, who are 3-1. The Nats will have a chance to gain ground next game as they face the Cardinals themselves.

The Nationals started off well, scoring on a squeeze play after getting two runners on in the 2nd inning, giving them a temporary 1-0 lead. But the Cardinals scored 2 runs in the 4th on a Schweitzer 2 run double. They would add one more in the 6th, and the Nationals were never able to mount a rally. The Nationals pitcher, Gibson, put in a respectable performance, giving up 3 runs in 6 innings, while walking only two hitters and striking out none. McMillian was the leader offensively, going 2 for 4 and raising his season average to .300. Next, the 1-4 Nationals play the Dodgers, who are 2-2 on the season. monkeyman576 Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 3,692	Nats Losing Streak Extends To 5 in 4-2 Loss The Nationals woes continued as their offence wasn't able to produce enough support against the Dodgers in a 4-2 loss that extended the Nats losing streak to 5 in a row. The Dodgers started off quickly in the 2nd inning with a single, double and double which scored the two prior baserunners. They scored again on a fielders choice, and then got another double and single which gave them a 4-0 lead early on. The Nationals tried to make a comeback late in the game, but it wasn't to be. In the 7th inning, they got 2 runs and 4 hits, which brought the game to 4-2 Dodgers. In the 9th inning, the Nationals got a walk and a single, but a game ending double play dashed their hopes yet again. In their next game, against the Mets, the Nationals would be sending out Tavarez, who struggled in his first start. THe Mets would be pitching Sanchez, who was injured after 1.2 innings and was still listed as "day to day".

monkeyman576 Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 3,692	Nats end losing streak in 3-2 win over Mets It's been a tough start for the Nationals, but a few lineup changes and a nice 2nd start for Tavarez produced divedends in a close 3-2 win. After a nice start by Van Campen, the Nationals manager rewarded him by moving him up to the cleanup spot from 9th, and he responded going 2 for 5 with a double. Starter Tavarez pitched well, going 7 innings and giving up only 1 run. Designated closer Aaron James pitched a perfect 9th inning, striking out two out of three batters in securing the win, which raised the Nats record to 2-5 on the year. The Nationals hope they can build on this win. The Nationals have June 27th off, but will play the next day against the Marlins. They will send Adam Carr to the mound, who struggled mightily in his first start, only lasting 2.1 innings. Hopefully he will do better this time around, but the Nats will probably have a short leash on him. They will be pitching against Corey Madden, who had a no decision in his first start, giving up 4 runs in 8 innings.

monkeyman576 Hall Of Famer Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 3,692	Nationals win thrilling 13 inning game, find new starter The Nationals won their third game of the season, and Song-i Song pitched the final 3.1 innings of the game, giving up only 2 hits, earning himself a place in the starting rotation to replace the battered Adam Carr. Things looked bad early, as the Cardinals built up a 7-2 lead. But the Nationals scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, behind a 2 on, 0 out double from Logan, then scored 2 runs in the 9th inning, when Figurero hit a pinch hit double with 2 on and no outs. Fans held their breath for 3 extra innings, as both the Cardinals and Nationals squandered chances. Finally, in the 13th, Alvarez hit a double, Estrella hit a sacrifice bunt to move him to 3rd, and then Figuero hit his second double of the game to win it 8-7. Mark Van Campen got his second home run of the year in the 1st inning. Van Campen is tied for 2nd in the league in the power hurting league, only Jonathan Walterbury, the Canadien first baseman of the Twins, has more. The Nationals improved to 3-6 with the win, and sit 3 games back of the first place Cardinals with the win. Next they play the Dodgers, who are 4-4 on the season. The Nationals pitch Desmond Jones, who is 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA on the season. The Dodgers pitch Travis Webb, who is starting off well with a 2-0 record and a 2.40 ERA.

The Nationals had a tough challenge in beating Webb, who had started the season with two good starts, but Washington came up with a quick remedy, namely Figuero's grand slam home run in the 1st inning. The Nationals pullpen did the job from there, giving up only 1 run in 5.1 innings. The lineup and pitching staff changing seem to be paying off for the Nationals, who have now won 3 out of their last 4 and sit at 4-6 on the season, hopefully poised to make a run towards being an elite team in the league. The Cardinals won 5-2 against the Mets, so the Nationals were unable to gain any ground in the standings. Figuero is on a hot streak, having only played in two games and already having 8 RBI's to lead the team. Despite his Spanish/Italian sounding name, Figuero is actually of Chineese orgin. The Nationals can climb out of last place if they win against the Mets, who they happen to be tied with in the standings. They'll be pitching against Eduardo Cameron, who his making his first start of the year for the Mets, but boasts 6/3/1/9 ratings. He should be a challenge for the Nationals. The Nationals will be sending Tavarez to the mound, who is 1-1 on the year with a 3.65 ERA.

Cameron, who was pitching his first start of the season, was in top form, giving up only two hits in 8.1 innings pitched. Yarborough was the player of the game offensively for the Mets, going 3 for 4, scoring a run, and driving in an RBI. The Nationals fall to 4-7 on the season. The Nationals face off against the Marlins next, who are 6-5 on the season. The Natioanls will send Gibson to the mound, who is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. The Marlins send Taylor to the mound, who is 0-1 with a 2.93 ERA.

Song-i Song sparkled in his debut, pitching 5.1 innings and giving up only 1 earned run, and striking out 4. The Cardinals and Nationals traded runs in the bottom of the second and top of the 3rd. They traded runs again in the top and bottom of the 6th to make it 2-2. The Nationals scored a run in the top of the 7th to make it 3-2, and given their strong bullpen, they thought they had a good chance of winning. But the Cardinals responded with a 3 run 8th and the Nationals weren't able to do anything in the 9th, and the Cardinals came away with the win. The Nationals fell to 5-8 on the season and the season series with the first place Cardinals is tied at 2-2. Next the Nationals, who will be pitching Desmond Jones(0-1, 4.76 ERA), and will be going against Roger Boone of the Dodgers, who went 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA in the OGD, but is making his first start in the GCL.

In other news, the Nationals got a new starting pitcher, Earl Dixon, who had a 2.95 ERA in 29 innings in Single A ball. He should be placed immediatley into the Nationals starting rotation. In the Major Leagues, the Nationals are struggling with a 35-51 record midway through the season. The Red Sox and Nationals are tied for first place in the AL East, the Twins lead the AL Central, and the Angels hold a half game lead over the Rangers in the AL West. In the NL, the Phillies lead the NL East, the Astros lead the NL Central, and the Dodgers lead the NL West.

Holdzkom got his first win of the season for the Mets, and pitched a two hitter and a complete game to boot. The Nationals rookie league team lost their third in a row and their record dropped to 5-10 on the season.

The Nats scored a run in the 7th and 8th innings to close it to 6-5, but gave up three runs in the 9th, and the Nationals woes continued, and Talvarez failed to be the first National to win two games. Vela, Figuero, and McMillian each had two hits for the nationals. Castro lead the Marlins with 3 hits, while Hensley had two hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI's. Carr performed better in the bullpen then he had as a starter, giving up only 1 run in 4.2 innings in relief. Next the Nationals face the 8-8 Cardinals, the Nats sit at a dismal 5-11. The Nationals pitch Song in his 2nd start, the Cardinals pitch Jesus Rivera, who is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA.
