Manute Bol died

Was once the NBA's tallest player. Never really seem to live up to his hype as a player but from what ive read and seen his accomplishments off the court seemed taller than the ones on the court.

My reaction was "Awww!". He was always an easy guy to root for, possibly because he didn't live up to the hype, as mentioned earlier - and because he could knock down the three. Rare for someone his height, especially 20 years ago.

I did get to see him play once. =) That was the main draw for attending the Celtics/Sixers game for me.

RIP Manute!

Ha, that reminds me one time I created him in an NBA Live game. Gave him a little ability to shoot the 3. I was a crappy 3 point shooter in that game but for some reason I could always time it good with Nute. I made like 8 out of 11 one game, including the buzzer beater game winner. I could just imagine Bol's reaction after something like that.

I remember reading that he got into a taxi accident, and while being checked out they discovered his kidney problem, so I thought he might have been on the upswing. Guess not. Sad day. I still think he did a lot with what he had. Being tall doesnt necessarily mean being good at basketball, but I think he was good with what he did.

RIP. He always seemed like a nice guy. Him and Olajuwan always seemed to be two of the nicer guys that really tried to take their success and use it to help where they came from.

Wonderful humanitarian in an area of the world that needs heroes. Africa experienced a great loss.
