Ubaldo Jimenez Win Projection

How many wins do you think Ubaldo Jimenez will end the season with?

Currently he is on pace for a 32-2 season.

In 4 1/2 months, you think he's only going to get 8 more wins...at most?

That's a little more than 1.5 wins per month. If he gets as many starts as he did last year, that's 20. If he wins half of those starts he's got 23 wins. Only 5 of his games last year did he not get a decision. He'd have to fall to earth pretty hard to only win 21. Who knows though, I'd like to see him break 27.

Well, I just have a feeling he will come back down to earth once the second half hits. He'll have an extended break from his routine now, so maybe that will flumox him. He does walk guys sometimes, so that could hurt him. And I just can't believe that he can be as lucky as Zach Greinke is unlucky, lol.

It's a conservative guestimate, but if he wins less 20 or less, it's a travesty. I hope for his sake he outdoes my guess.

I voted for 28-32. I think he has a very good shot at 25 wins and a slight chance of 30.

He only has 5 less wins than the Orioles.

Well, he come down to Earth somewhat (probably have an ERA around 2.20-2.50). And if his workload gets up too high, they'll probably only start him once a week for the final 6 weeks. (or give him the Joba treatment of 3 innings per start )

Regardless, if Colorado isnt in the race, once he hits 20, he'll be used sparingly.

Nah, Greinke isnt all that unlucky. He plays for the Royals, that is all the unluck you need.

I think 18-22. He's been really good, but he eventually will get a string of no decisions and maybe a loss or 2. He'll still have a great year, but I think 22 wins would be fantastic for him

24 wins seems about right. 28 or higher seems absurd.

He will finish 28-2, with an ERA of about 1.05. He obviously will win the Cy Young award, maybe the MVP award.

I think it will go something like this: 20 more starts with 6 no decisions. This leaves him with 14 decisions. If he wins half (7) that will give him 20 wins for the season. A 20-8 season is a Cy Young Award season.

So my final guess is that he will finish 20-8 with a 2.80 ERA.

There is no way on earth his ERA goes lower and stays lower. No way on earth.

We need Titor to tell us exactly what he finished with this year.

That cant happen because a modern day pitcher can never be allowed to win the MVP no matter how good he is.

My point exactly. Has had several quality starts that turn into losses because they cant hit at all

He also hasn't pitched as well this year. He has had a solid year, but not great. I would feel a bit worse for him if he was pitching more consistently.

To avoid hijacking the thread, his last few starts have been bad. The thing I feel bad for him is that he is pitching at about the same level as to when he got off to his fast start last year, but this time without the run support.

Also, I am surprised the majority of people so far feel like I do on Ubaldo.

Do not let Clemens or Eck hear you saying that.

We certainly are due for a pitcher to win MVP.
