well i should have listened to you guys
i jumped in and after playing for a week i stared my own online league. it started with a bunch of my friends agreeing to play, then i recruited people from this forum and blam i had a running league. after a week i got everybody working, then all the ftp server problems and wrong version errors pop up and my league loses players one at a time. i have lost a person or two every week and it doesnt seem to get better. i filled out a ticket for tech help on this site over three weeks ago and havent heard back, im sure they are busy so im not worring. my ftp guy has done all he can to help me but even with the constant help of the people at all sim baseball, my league is failing. i am not even making changes with my team any more im just trying to fix the league errors. its a shame because i really love my team and think this is a fun game. it just is terrible how much things are supposed to work and just dont for some crazy reason.
im sorry if im complaining but i needed to vent, this game is great and im sure that its something that im doing, but with no help i have no idea what it is. the forum said to join a league first. thats what i should have done

I can't offer any advice, but I will point you in a couple of directions.
First, I suggest that you start an 'online league' with two teams and manage those two teams yourself. Go through the motions that your league members would go through. This will help you identify some of the issues at hand. Second, if the league becomes untenable (too many drop outs), talk to your members about your issues and ask them if they want to stop and try again later after you have mastered the process. People often feel better about negative events if they feel they have a choice. Third, spend some quality time with the online manual. It is a great reference and there are sections that should be read through by clicking on the next button. Here is a great place to start for your situation. Also, I have been tracking some threads in the forums. Here are some titles in the OOTP 11 - General Discussion forum that may be of interest. You can search for these topics by name. Creating leagues question Exporting Problems Can't fire owner in online league Duplicate players Undo a delete player? Three league World Series workaround Can someone explain saved box scores/logs to me? What is this error (upload league fiel)? Also, I would look at the OOTP 11 - Online League Forums for tips and tricks there. Also, I would look at the Interactive Online League Directory and explore some of their pages. Read their 'constitutions' and you may find some good info on how they deal with problems that come along. Some of these leagues have forums that can be wonderful sources of information. I hope this answer is helpful to you.
