Idea for a historical online league

What if a league was designed were you could only use the actual rosters for that year and each owner was assigned a historical managers name.
You could only manage as long as the historical manager did and then you would have to apply for a new historical manager's name.
You would have to manage the teams the historical manager did.
So if you were Casey Stengel you would manage the yankees till 1960.
Of course the commish would have to do the historical transactions.
If 2 managers managed a team you could just go by amount of games they each managed if you dont know the date they were fired or hired.

Maybe a dumb idea but i just thought it might be interesting. Plus i guess im relunctant to join another online league building a team since i have yet to experience a league survive past 5 years. None were the fault of bad commishes just things beyond their control. Still its frustrating. Seems like online leagues should be easier and more fun but im starting to just prefer solo play.
