I'm all for guys jumping up and down and enjoying the moment after a walk-off win. Just look at my avatar. But the bowling pins thing was choreographed and in a way showing up the other team. That's like T.O. signing the ball or Joe Horn grabbing a cell phone after a touchdown. Just "look at me, look at me" stuff that is not necessary.

Oh, I just watched the replay. It was really a tame celebration and jump. Looks to me like the guy with the warm up jacket off to his right tried to give him a double high five as he jumped...more or less "checking" him in the air. Freak freak accident.

I'd consider the Prince Fielder thing a "look at me" moment if the rest of his team hadn't participated as well. The "everyone bounce" celebration at home plate isn't any better, but whatever, I'm not a pro athlete. I'd like to think that if I scored a winning goal/hit a winning homerun/won a race or a tennis tourney I'd act like I'd done it before. Like Roy Halladay did, actually.

Apparently, the team is hoping to have him back in September. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a smooth recovery. I'm just too much of a fan to give up now, so I'll stay optimistic that the Angels will turn things around. Last season started shaky and ended pretty well, so I know it can happen.

I think that the Halladay celebration was subdued because Morales broke his leg before the Phillie game ended and they realized the risk to their best pitcher if they dogpiled him or something.

The Angels have just made so many idiotic moves over the last few years that they have no room for error. They let Glaus go and signed Finley. They made a clerical mistake and lost Jenks and the ex Brewers closer through waivers. They let KRod go to sign Fuentes. They let Vlad do to sign Matsui. They let Lackey and Figgy go because they didnt want to add another year to their offers. Moreno has a ton of money so its not that the Angels cant afford better players. Reagins needs to go.

I don't think that had anything to do with it. I think they were far more concerned with the ramifications of this: A little celebration over some rare baseball feat is minor in the grand scheme of things when measured against the possibility of never seeing your family again. :

Yeah, and he won't trade his prospects to save his life. The Teiexiera trade is the only one I can think of and in that one they gave up Kotchman and not much else. And then Sean Rodriguez for Kazmir, not exactly a blockbuster.

They could've traded Brandon Wood two or three years ago to get an impact player. Now Wood is past his expiration date as a prospect and is floundering in the majors.

I definitely don't disagree with any of this. Fuentes is enough to make my blood boil without even thinking about the others. I keep waiting for some great off-season moves (or mid-season, for that matter), but I feel like we just sit by and watch everyone else. There are occasional bright spots, but I feel generally disappointed.

Still, despite all of that, I'll keep pulling for the team we've got. When it comes to my teams, I suppose I'm an eternal optimist.

Ill do the same. Im just a little depressed at what was possible the last 5 years. We have a bunch of old guys and really no one young up and coming star. Maybe one of the two outfielders we drafted last June will develop. And hopefully we can make the draft picks we get this draft pay off.
