Which position do you just love to draft?

I just find myself in love with drafting shortstops with some pop.

lol I mean arod(who is a fake) really but before i knew I mean was there anyone more incredible than a short stop who was great defensively and had the best power numbers.

Has anyone drafted or even seen an arod clone yet? I mean if I ever saw a ss with good defense and rare power and plus contact I would trade everything I could for him.

So number one for me is short stop. Then number 2 would be catcher.(think bryce harper clone) Then second base. Those are my top three positions that I feel you need to win it all.

Catchers. Everybody needs them. When I get enough (two or three good ones), I can have a "sale" and get the players I need.

give me a super speedy centerfielder who can cover all the grass, throw in a potential to steal 50-75 bases a year and a great OBP and you've found me a 1st rounder.

I like to draft high OBP and strong-armed catchers, but I find myself drafting a huge amount of corner OFs with offense too good to ignore.

Catchers, easily. For whatever reason in OOTP I have a tough time developing catchers - they always seem to bust. So I've adapted and just throw as many catchers into my farm system as possible.

Kelric: That's interesting, because I accumulate enough ML-quality catchers that I'm always dealing them away.

I usually draft shortstops, Second base, catchers and centerfielders with good defense skill. I value defensive skill really high on premium positions, I take Firstbasemans sometime but they have to really mash the ball to impress me.

I have the same problem with starting pitchers. I tend to avoid first round picks for them like the plague though. (well maybe late first round, but definitely not if I am in the top half). The up the middle positions probably. But, yeah, if a catcher with power comes up it'd be the hardest to ignore. (though I dont often get that opportunity)

I just drafted based off of talent only and ignored all personality traits. I believe some believe on here that talent is more important than personality. So I figure I would go full out with that belief. Hope this works.

While talent is important for me, low work ethic is something I like to avoid. I will take some one with low work ethic if there is no one with comparable talent. I feel work ethic has a big play in how prospect evolve.

I try to find a good starting pitcher because I feel like they're rare in the draft. But with my Pirates game I took manny Machado #2 overall, a shortstop who should develop a ton of power (although he tanked in the short-season league after he got drafted).

Agree on the SS, 2B, CF. But, in OOTP it doesnt seem catchers affect much. As long as they can play the position, the only other thing that matter is the arm.

Yeah I think your right about catchers, still like to find one with a goood arm. A reason why I like drafting players that plays a harder position is that you can move them around if another player comes up, also I love those player that plays every position those always seem to find a spot on my team.

I never worry about position, I just draft the guy with the most offensive potential - you never know with trades, injuries and free agents what you are going to need by the time a guy is ready.

I like drafting a Centerfielder with speed,
a Shortstop who can field,
a Starting Pitcher with good movement, and
a Catcher who can throw.

And I try to avoid guys with a low work ethic.

Me too. As long as the CF, SS, and C project to be able to hit well enough for their positions I think that's a pretty good program.

Finesse pitchers. Love trying to find the guys without any high end stuff that can still succeed.

Of course, OOTP doesn't make too many of these it seems - my league is getting more of the other type (stuff...and nothing else)

Also like draft SS with great defense and since my team is a smallish market team with die hard fans (below average market, GREAT loyalty and interest) player loyalty and hopefully low greed to go with it will entice me if the guy has any chance of being above average.
