Combining Teams

I just got the game over the weekend and i'm a little afraid - this is more of a time killer than I expected !! Anyways, I haven't found out how to create a blank league and import historical teams from different years. Is there a straightforward way to do this ?

Have you considered trying the All Time Greatest quickstart game that comes with OOTP11? It may not use the exact same teams that you would choose, but it will give you some exposure to what that would look like. It's a good idea to get some experience with OOTP before you start building you own custom leagues. It is, however, possible to do what you want to do. The specific info is on this page of the manual:

Just create a league then go to league setup, functions, edit league structure, import historical team. Once you have the teams you want you can delete any you don't. You can also edit the league structure if you wish.
