Change position

Is it possible to change a players position after you've started a league.

Changing their listed position is easy - go to their profile page and check out the Set Position To button in the bottom right.

As for teaching them a new position, that depends on a number of factors. If you want to teach a LFer how to play CF, what is his overall outfield range? If it is high, he has a better shot to become a decent outfielder. Your best bet in such a situation is to play the guy at the position you want him to learn while he is still in the minors or during spring training at the big league level. It is much tougher to teach a new position during the regular season in the bigs. For infielders, their double play rating and their arm factor in a lot more than arm or errors do for outfielders. Third basemen typically can only learn to play first base well while mobile middle infielders can usually learn to play anywhere on the dirt. And there is always the caveat that sometimes guys will learn a new position without a problem while others will never really advance beyond the basics.

Or, if you are in Commissioner mode (Manager dropdown menu > Manager Options), you can always edit a player to know a position better.
