Version 1.04 - Download fg_files.zip

This is 257 files that either add Facegen pictures that weren't there already or improve on some of the poorer ones that came with the Historical Pack. (Not that this is a knock on the work everybody did on that initial release!) Version 1.02 was included in Gambo's most recent update, so many of these will be redundant to those of you who have it.

Changes include:

• Fixes to dozens of MLB players (Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Guillen, Elvis Andrus, Troy Tulowitzki, Zack Greinke and others)
• Fixes to a handful of retired players (notably Barry Bonds and Craig Biggio)
• Added dozens of minor leaguers, such that Baseball Prospectus' Top 101 Prospects are all included as well as several others
• Added dozens of MLB 2010 quickstart free agents (including everyone who demands $850k or more at the start of the game)
• Added dozens of retired players, mostly from the 90s

I'll keep working on this sometimes. I've been playing the 2010 quickstart and updating the players who need updating in my game as I go. So, there's lots of seemingly random minor leaguers who just happened to develop into great players in my game, etc. I'm kind of open to taking requests for the next version so let me know who you might want.

Instructions: extract into OOTP11>fg_files folder and overwrite those that are already in there.

I am implementing the majority of these into the sets and you will see them with the next update (probably the end of this month for the 2010 pack)

Just wondering before I load them in, is the Tim Raines in this pack the father or the son?

It's Tim Raines, Sr. I've also got Eric Young, Sr. in there because he was showing up with Jr.'s face before.

I've already started a MLB quickstart league...how do I quickly update players faces with your updates?

I've moved to the correct folder, however did not see a way to quickly change all (only way I could find is import one at a time on the player's page)

I'm not sure there is a way to quickly update everybody, which is a shame.

Go into the news/images folder of your saved game and delete all the player images from there. The game will then reload the new facegens when needed.

Is that the most convenient way to do it? So just delete all of the facegen files, load the game up, then close it again. Then just add the new facegen files again and they will update when needed? Just looking for some clarification.

And hey, William. I think you're a Braves fan. Does this set include the ones that we requested from Randy already? (Salcedo, Bethancourt, Arodys, etc.)

Just to clarify, don't delete any of the old facegen files from the fg_files folder, just drop these new ones into there and overwrite where necessary. Then, delete whatever player pictures (photos or facgens) you have in the news/html/images folder of your saved game. Do all of this one time when the game isn't running and that should be it.

I don't believe they do, I noticed one for Ike Davis but not any of the Braves prospects Randy did. There's an updated Chipper in there though.

I didn't think the old Chipper was too bad, I just thought mine was better. Like Pujols.

If you'll notice from post #2 above, Gambo's going to include most of Emu's stuff in the next update of the All-in-One pack. I've uploaded the ones I've done as well to Soxxcountry for inclusion, so we're seeing work from a lot of different people going into that pack.

Emu, great work on the FG's, man. If you ever get the yen to help out on the historical FG's, drop in at the Soxxcountry forums and take a look around - and maybe volunteer if you want. We could use the help.

Thanks, Randy. I did do one pack pre-release. Those excellent Wade Boggs and Ozzie Smith ones are mine. I'm finding it much easier to motivate myself to do them as I go in-game rather than if they're assignments. For some reason. One thing I've been doing lately is importing some random year and adding a bunch of guys who aren't done yet. I think I'll wait for the next release though, to make sure I'm not repeating work.

The Boggs and Smith one are awesome - fantastic work, Emu Good idea on the waiting. Avoiding unnecessary duplication and all that, which is another reason to steer everyone towards Soxxcountry - if we know what's been done (from the master list, etc), then we can get more done quickly.

There's a section there that allows you to post "updated pics" - might want to try that.

AESPpres is doing the same thing as you, but with much earlier years.

You have no idea how I can't wait to finally hit the 20th century (my last one is 1877). The materials available for the 19th century isn't that great and for some players it's more or less a guessing game, but it's better than nothing.

I've noticed the same thing with doing some of the historical FG's. As long as they look reasonably human (and not like Phyllis Diller...), I guess it works. *grin*
