possible bug in customizing playoffs
I did a quick search and did not find anything. Not sure if this is a bug or I messed it up as I changed the settings during the playoffs.
In my lg. I have a 16 team playoffs dividing into two conferences 8 teams per conference. During the first round I noticed I did not change the series locations as the higher seed had 7 straight home games. So I made the change during the first round and the change took effect during round 2. Now finally onto the bug. All the higher seeds won but looking at round two in the 2 vs. 3 match-ups in both conferences the 3rd ranked team has 4 home games. Has anyone else seen this problem? |

There is a drop down menu where you choose how home and away are divided up, you may have missed that.
![]() It's right below where you choose how long the series is. Here is the link to the instructions in the online manual

I missed it for the first round and then changed it to the 2h2a1h1a setting for round two but the 2nd ranked team in each conference is playing the 3rd ranked team but the 3rd ranked team has the 4 home games. I was wondering if this happened to anyone else or if the problem is because I changed the format during the playoffs.

The playoff matchups themselves were screwy in 9 and 10. Three of the top four teams were in one half of the bracket, giving the 2-seed a massive advantage...
Haven't checked 11 yet. |

I just did some testing. This is still screwed.
I don't understand, this has to be an easy fix and has been a bug for awhile. It's really frustrating to play a whole season and then this goes wrong. |

Something called BZ221 has been around for like 4 years. I don't know if it is possible to get anymore info.
Since this doesn't look too high priority, is there any combination of playoff settings where you do not get this error? Do we need to manually edit the schedule after each round of playoffs, is this what people normally do? |

That kind of stuff really gets to me.
They start a thread asking what we want new for the game. How about fixing what's not working properly instead and concentrate on that. Yes, this seeding playoff and trading logic is seriously broken for OOTP11. We need some fixes for old bugs instead of moving on to new features in the game. |

Choose your first round matchups however you like, but note after that the playoffs proceed on a fixed draw basis (like that used in the NBA) and not on an open draw basis (like that used in the NHL).
That is, if you set your first round to be: #1 vs. #8 #2 vs. #7 #3 vs. #6 #4 vs. #5 The second round will feature the 1/8 versus 2/7, and 3/6 versus 4/5. Setting it up as: #1 vs. #8 #4 vs. #5 #2 vs. #7 #3 vs. #6 The second round will now have 1/8 versus 4/5, and 2/7 versus 3/6. This is the typical setup for the matchups in an eight-team fixed draw playoff. Note also the menu where you select how the first round matchups are determined. That will also make a difference. In terms of the game's pre-set (as opposed to customizable) playoffs scenarios, I thought the issue around matchups in some of the setups had been fixed, but I perhaps I'm mistaken about that. |

Fixed draw like the NCAA tournament? That would be fine, but notice in that case, it should be in the second round
1/8 vs 4/5 and 2/7 vs 3/6 As it is currently, the 2 seed generally will have an easier time. This is something that could easily be fixed to make some sense, but it's not that big a deal, as long as there is some reason to the current system. Why doesn't the top seed, having won every round, sometimes not get home field advantage? They did not have a losing record heads up, or ( in my league ) have lost any conceivable tiebreaker. Does this not bother anyone else? Does it not occur when doing historical play? |

Make sure your selections in each slot will lead to the desired matchups in the second round. It's easy to not notice that because the visual clues to show how one matchup pair leads to the next matchup pair are not strong.

I just did 16 teams, 8 each league and everything was perfect in terms of matchups and homefield this time. I don't know if I'm going to crazy.
