Holy mother of god!!!!!

LOOK AT THIS CONTRACT!!!!! The AI gave this to the guy after being locked in a bidding war for sure, since he only demanded 24 mil per at the start of FA. I never took part in the bidding war but JEEZ!!!! This trumps any other OOTP contract I've seen in per year value by about $9 million...

That's not even considering what that would be in 2010...

6 years contract for 2,951,268,000 - 491,878,000 a year

How good is that guy? I've never seen a contract that big, so you've piqued my interest.

Well, 22-6 with a 2.55 ERA in an offense-happy league would have him pretty good, I'd say.

He's a 7/8/10 on the 1-10 scale, with 10 stamina, with 5 pitches being good or better, and the text says he's a team leader. I actually was offered him in a deal about 5 days before the deadline by his old team, but I figured his likely high demand for a contract would be too much, and I couldn't get them to lower their demand, so it fell through.

I like

I like the fact that the Pitcher Award Bonus is worth 2.8% of the average annual value and 0.46% of the total contract! That'll make him strive to achieve that incentive!

In later years, he then took that money and opened the Ferrara Pan Candy Company and created the Lemonhead candy.

And a switch hitter to boot. This guy does it all.

That actually got me thinking, are their any real life switch hitting pitchers?

I think I remember Don Carmen of the Phillies switch hitting once back in the 90's (?) but only because he was batting something like .038 or something. If I remember correctly he rapped a double down the line.

Quite a few, actually... The Cubs new 18 million dollar middle reliever switch-hits, for one.

Most pitchers ditch it, though, and stick with the side of the plate that keeps their pitching elbow in the back and protected from HBPs.

In my 19th century historical fantasy league, I had a guy ask for 2000 a year and I thought he was nuts when everyone else was making 500-800 a year....

Not that it matters, since it's an all DH league. He's also a terrible hitter, so nothing to go on there.

The nickname "Lemonhead" is worth that kind of money just by itself.

Sheesh, you'd think if a guy signed a quarter of a billion dollar contract his morale would be better than "good".

Interesting semi-related fact: Pat Venditte (pro-baseballs only current switch pitcher) bats exclusively right handed (ok, he's an AL reliever with 1 career AB, but that isn't the point)
