New to the OOTP series

I used to play MVP 05 with the mods that made the game perfect and enjoyable. Now I've jumped over to this series and i was wondering, if and what are the "Must Have" mods to download for this game?

I haven't played it to much yet, but man do I like all the features it has.

Thanks in advance

You can download and install some intitial mods from within the game. But you have to create a game first so you can get to the main OOTP menu and select the Add-Ons Central option. From there you can connect to servers where you can find an MLB all-in-one mod for photos, ballpark images, etc. There are also FaceGen mods for 2010 MLB and a partial one for historical players.

For more info on mods, check out the mods forums, and make sure to visit PadreFan's OOTP mods site. You can Google it. He usually has all the latest mods.

I tend to download real and fictional ballpark images, the full real player photos set that is available, and a few other mods.

The all-in-one MLB mod if you're going to play with current rosters.

Are there any special settings that would make the game play better? I see there are values that you can change, but im not sure what they do.

That question is loaded with possibilities. Define 'better.' Everybody plays the game differently. OOTP plays pretty well by default, so I'd suggest just giving it a whirl and once you get used to the game play start tweaking things.
