Spray charts
I'm new to this wonderful game, i played a bit of OOTP X before i purchased 11 which is awesome, just a question.
Does OOTP use spray charts for where hitters mostly get there hits?..for example Adam Dunn mostly get's his hit to right field to the point where teams play a shift where as the shortstop is shifted to 2ndbase and so on changing there defensive alignment. Thanks guys |

Basically, all that game knows about a player is what is in his stats. And his stats don't include info on where he hit balls to. The game assigns a hitter type (pull, normal, spray) to each batter, but it's basically random. IMHO, the type of radical shifts that you see IRL for some hitters don't really figure into OOTP. I've done a little testing of that, and my conclusion was that you don't see hitters in the game who have that pronounced a pattern, nor do you see those types of shifts.
I think Markus would have to invent another hitter type and do some changes on fielding position behavior to capture that in the game. |
