When do you hire staff?

Throughout the season you get a lot of messages about staff leaving. Do you hire staff as one leaves, or do you wait till some time in the offseason to hire? And what are the pros and cons of each?

I do all my staff hiring the day all the major league team's staff become "free agents". I forget off hand, but I think it's when the playoffs are over in a league that all staff contracts that are set to expire do expire. So once the major league is done then I know all my leagues are also done so the staff members that are available is everyone that will be available. I then try to grab them up.

the staff leaves when their season is over, so the minor league guys all leave during the ML regular season.

It is probably best to extend anyone you want to keep during the early part of the season, before they leave. As for those you want to replace you are probably best to replace them immediately, or even fire them and replace them before the AI goes after the best guys out there. Although I always made a "house" rule not allowing myself to hire before the AI teams.

Would be nice to have a SINGLE PAGE to extend/hire/fire the full organizational staff.

Would also be nice to get emails from coaches expressing their desires. Like "thanks for giving me an opportunity to manage your A-ball team for the last 15 years, but I think I am ready to manage in The Show now."
