Simulating several years

I noticed a lot of veteran players sim several years and then take over a bad team. How do you set your league up so you can jump in 30 years down the road?

Thanks

I would set up your league how you want it, create a manager that is in commissioner mode so you can assign yourself to a team, then go to your manager options, turn off any options that would stop an auto-sim (such as PMs, job offers, etc), then pull down the sim menu and select: Sim to X date. Then select a date you would like to start. Let it roll, take a quick nap, or rake the yard, come back and you're ready to go!

It would be even easier just to NOT assign yourself to a team. Just be the commish, and use the Auto-Play menu to "Auto-play to Date X" and pick 30 years in the future. Then go get some lunch (and dinner, and sleep depending on how big your setup is). Then come back and take a job!

EDIT: Sorry, I totally duplicated almost everything JWay wrote.

I like to help the new guy Steve, but if he doesn't click off the PM me options, sometimes you'll get exited from the auto-sim for some random message. Had it happen once or twice. Not a big deal, but if you want to see it done, make sure you do that. I wonder if going on vacation works for that? Never tried that #betatesterfail

Odd, I've never had that happen. Doing what Steve suggested has always worked for me.

Interesting, I ran a couple tests that got stopped for something, then I started testing with turning that stuff off first. Who knows what I ran into.

If you put yourself into vacation mode before doing a long sim, you should not be interrupted with any personal messages. Make sure that your vacation settings have the AI peforming all of the necessary duties, and you are set.
