Financial Question

Is there a way to start a 2010 season, but have the game recalibrate salaries based off say a 100 million dollar salary cap?

It looks like I could hold an inaugural draft and set the cap and then recalculate player demands, but would prefer to keep the teams "as is."

Any ideas?

There are options to recalculate player and staff contracts and team financials, but I don't think that they would do anything to force a team under the cap. Implementing a cap would limit their transactions until they were under the cap. If you want to keep 2010 rosters, I'd recommend phasing in a cap or increasing revenue sharing.

Thanks for the reply. My goal would be to get contract numbers down. For some reason 100+ million dollar rosters tick me off, haha.

I have no problem with "phasing in a cap" but I'm not really sure how to do this?

By phasing, I meant you'd step down to your desired cap over a few years. If you want a 100m cap, then step down from 160-140-120-100. You can also do some simple things like sharing the media contract, increasing ticket sharing, or increasing the luxury/revenue tax.

Driving contract values down is a delicate balance. As long as teams have money, they are going to use it. I hate 100m+ rosters and 20m+ contracts too. I've gone to mid-90's fictional leagues with increased revenue sharing personally.

Anybody know if the new owners addition means different styles in how finances are run. Some owners will spend anything to win while others will hold onto every penny?

You may not need to phase in a cap. Go into advanced league setup, edit the financial rules to where you want them (that includes the salary structures). Then go to the financial functions section and click "Make fictional Player Contracts", then click "Assign Fictional Financials to Teams".

No guarantee it will work, but in theory it should
