Creation Instructions

In past versions there was a sticky made that took us step-by-step through the creation of a historical league and its basic options to choose to make it an enjoyable experience for novices such as myself.

I know this version, the entire process has been consolidated and simpler - but will I need to make any changes (such as to injuries) not suggested by the wizard to get a comparable experience that I had in my prior version?

I can not do a league transfer, so I'll be starting from scratch; also in addition to a pure historical league, I plan on starting one of those quick start all-time great roster leagues - should all settings be the same for both leagues?

I appreciate any and all replies, as I am still a novice at understanding everything with this awesome title.

My problem is which team to manage first in 1871. Forest City, St Louis, or Baltimore.

I don't know if we will see another sticky like before, but if you go and look at the one in the OOTP10 forum, the guidance will still be valid. The way the League Setup windows are organized is a little different, but everything is pretty much the same as far as options are concerned. The biggest difference for historicals (IMHO) -- and it is huge!! -- is that first season stats will be realistic without you having to do anything yourself to make that happen.

The other big difference is that when you start the historical game setup wizard, there is an option for "single-season replay" or "career". The former is for those people who want to have their game set for the most accurate replay of a single season that OOTP can produce (OOTP doesn't try to re-create things like historical trades, injuries or other random events like that).

If there are other things you need specific advice about, just post.

A quickstart game, by definition, is a game where everything has been figured out for you, so you can just start playing. Of course, people fiddle with settings and options anyway. There is nothing to keep you from doing that. But, until you learn more about what goes on under the hood, so to speak, your best bet is just to start a quickstart game and have fun!
