Aaron Boone.. Player of the week?

Just today, hit 3 homers in a 8-6 victory over the Cards. That makes 5 homers in the 4 game sweep of the Cardinals. Just wondered what you guys think. He doesn't even look that big but yet he has been killing the ball lately. That makes 10 homers on the season. With Kearns the reds have been just killing the ball.

He gets my vote, for whatever that's worth. Oh, yes: nothing.

P.S., Thanks for the sweep against STL. The Cubs needed that while dropping two of three to the f***ing Brewers.

New Poll In Cincy:

Who would you send down or release when Grif comes off the disabled list?

J. Guillen - 8%
R. Mateo - 11%
W. Pena - 31%
K. Griffey - 50%

How soon will it be before we see this poll in Cincy fish wraps and TV?

Mateo needs to be sent packing, he's most likely never going to be anything more then a 5th outfielder, he's like Ruben Rivera without the clubhouse stealing.
Pena needs to get at bats; he can't possibly do any worse then Reggie Taylor and Mateo.
Anyone who would vote Griffey out before any of those three is a raving idiot.
IMO

I agree - I just remember a poll like that from last year where the "fans" voted Grif because they did not want to give up Juan Encarnacian as an everyday player.

I saw Pena in the Minors just two years ago - A ball... he is not ready, but they have to do something or give up on 'im.

I think that Guillen has done a very nice job plugging in... HE will be a nice 4th OF when Grif returns.

Pena is out of options, correct? Because I can't think of any other reason for not demoting a guy who is batting .067.

Yep out of options.
Reds are stuck though, put him on waivers and someone else will claim him. Leave him up in the majors warming the bench because he's nowhere near being ready and he'll never get to develop. What to do what to do.

They should just play him, once in awhile he might connect.
Maybe...

i doubt if they'd get much. He has a major league contract, so he HAS to stay up, or clear waivers. Knowing that......teams would just wait to claim him rather than give up something for him.

With Griffey and Branyan about to come off the DL they better do something with him, especially since they have to carry 12 pitchers since there manager can’t handle a bullpen properly.

Just another example of Yankee fiscal stupidity.

I think they would be better off trading Casey (trouble is no one wants him) and moving Dunn to 1B. Guillen has a very good arm, something that is needed in RF and I don't think Kearns or Dunn really has a great arm. I also wouldn't be at all suprised if they trade Griffey in a few months if he proves he can stay healthy, trouble is the Reds will probably trade him for garbage just to cut payroll. The ownership in Cincy should learn a few lessons from earlier this season if he fails to field a competitive team then no one will be coming to GAB to watch the team even if it is in its first year. Regardless of how nice the stadium is fans are not going to come out and watch the Reds lose 14-5.

Wily Mo Pena is out of options because of the insane contract that the Yankees signed him to when he was drafted, they also signed Henson to a similar contract so if he doesn't go to football then you will see him on the ML roster (I think he may already be taking a 40-man roster spot) even if he is far from being ready.

Yes, Henson is taking up a 40 man spot.

No, he'll never be ready for the big leagues.

I'd look for him to go back to football once his contract is up.

Disagree.. he is hitting around .305 and he is hitting .415 on the road. Nobody would want him?

EDIT: So I don't get called a post whore. Just watching the game, top of the 1st.. 1 out..5-0 Kearns hit a shot for 2, and they are tied for 12. Then Dunn gets up after Boones single, which came after the homer, and Dunn takes the lead with 13 homers
