Time to revive this thread Here's an interesting article about him and video of the at bat vs a switch hitter that generated a rule change:

Video of Yankees Prospect Pat Venditte Against a Switch Hitter | Bleacher Report

I wonder if/when we'll see him in pinstripes

Will be interesting to see where he goes to start this season. Trenton hopefully, and I don't think I'm being too optimistic to say a September call-up if he does well enough.

I kinda wish another team had picked him up because he would be a great fan magnet to get people to come out to the park. And he'd have an easier path to the roster too.

Plus I don't want to have to hate him.

Oh my word, I really hope that interviewer doesn't lose his day job. That was painful to listen to.

+1. I'm mildly autistic and I could conduct an interview better than that.

Apparently he'll start in Tampa:

Promoting Pat Venditte | TYU

I think that's probably sensible on the balance of it, as long as they promote him if he continues to do well.

He pitched in a Spring Training game vs the Braves:

Ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte threw with both arms Tuesday - MLB - SI.com

1.1 IP, 2H, 1BB, 1R.

They did a little feature on him tonight on ESPN Radio's Baseball Tonight. I forget which baseball analyst it was, but he said that Venditte had nothing left to prove in Tampa and that he should be given a shot at AA. He also mentioned that the main thing fighting against him and his quest for the majors is his lack of velocity. The analyst felt that he will have to post similar ratios at all levels on his ascent to The Show or he will never be taken seriously. Lastly, he sighted his age, which will be 25 this spring, and how he is really too old for A-ball and that the clock is ticking.

Yeah, as has been mentioned before in this thread, velocity is an issue.

Also, I'm not sure how they class June 30th (his 25th birthday) as "spring" but anyway...

I'm guessing he wont be in A long this season.

As I said on a different board, I think he can get a September call-up next year, or (at a big stretch) this year if he really blows people away.

Following Venditte

Yanks fond of switch-pitching Venditte | MLB.com: News

Can't wait for him to make it so that OOTP/Mogul will make it an option in the game...one option I really do want, and don't see as an option that people will turn off (so long as it rarely occurs in the game).

I agree, and I will keep asking for it in OOTP until it's there!

Also, how is 3 perfect innings with 4K's to start the season:

I was hoping he'd start the year in AA. A ball is a bit low for a guy his age.

If he keeps pitching like he did the other night he'll be there soon enough.

Second appearance of the year:

2.0 IP, 1 H, 4 K.

I make that 5.0 Innings, 1 hit, 8 K's so far this season.

His last outing was 2-3 days before this one wasn't it? If so, maybe the author of that article was on to something. Maybe he's in high A to "stretch him out". I hope so. I'd love to see this kid in the bullpen within a couple of years.
