I am in importing hell...

Ok.

I am new to the OOTP series so kid gloves please. Using OOTP 8 to experiment as I wait for OOTP 11. I have been perusing PadresFan Mods and am befuddled. If anyone can kindly guide me through the following, it would be mightily appreciated.

How do I (within OOTP):
a) import team logos
b) import the most recent rosters for use in OOTP 8 (ideally '09 opening day rosters but '08 would suffice)
c) import player photos in one fell swoop

The easiest way is to extract/copy all of the logos into the news\html\images folder inside your saved game (i.e. the .lg folder) after you create a league. You can also place them in the logos folder before you create a league and the game will find them. Also you can manually add them from a team's home page.

You can use the Lahman database (Home - baseball1.com) for historical rosters, though I forget exactly which version is compatible witth OOTP8. I think its 5.4 or 5.5 - maybe somebody else can answer this better.

PadreFan may also still have some mod dbases from the OOTP8 days that would work also.

same as a) - put them into the news\html\images folder of your saved game. Or you can put them in the photos folder before you create the league and the game will find them.

Good luck!

One problem: I do not see the news folder within windows explorer to save down to.

Also, are the individual ballpark images also available to import?

Finally, is it necessary to activate any of the features within the League Setup/Functions screen to enable any of the imported graphics?

the full tree would be something like:
My Documents/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 8/saved_games/(yoursavedgame).lg/news/html/images

These can be edited from the Options and Ballparks button (or something like that) on each team's home page. Or you can put them in the ballparks folder before you start a league. I don't remember if you can just dump them in the images folder like the other things.

To use the player photos, you have to disable FaceGen in the league setup by settings the player pics to 'No Fictional Pictures'. You don't have to do anything for logos or ballparks.

Here is a link to the online manuals for the game:

OOTP Baseball Manual - OOTP Documentation Home

Click on OOTP 8/2007, then the Customization section. It has some screenshots and such that might aid you in your journey.
