Best Way for me to Create Custom Cards
Okay - for my league, we create custom awards cards and people put them in their forum sigs... really spices up the forum and whatnot. But anyway, our GM that usually does this has been pretty busy at work and hasn't been able to. We're a season behind on Awards cards with another season finishing so about to be 2 seasons behind - so I'm going to try and create cards. I'll attach some images of a few of the cards, and then just ask the question... what would be the best FREE software to use in creating similar cards? And could a novice actually pull it off with some practice?
Of course, if someone feels kind hearted and loves doing this, I'd welcome it. But really, I want to learn how to do some of this stuff so I'm not so reliant on others. Here are a few examples...

Inkscape or Paint.net would work well. Here is a thread on a card I made with Inkscape -
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...e-request.html Inkscape would probably be best but if you're more comfortable with a paint program use that. For this card, you'd just have to use a few basic tools - boxes, circles, text, gradients, centering, etc. Probably the most advanced thing would be to create the green border and cut a "hole" in it so the picture shows through. I can help you with that if you want. It's not hard but takes a few steps.

I whipped this up - not an exact duplicate but close. I can send it to you if you want. That way you can fool with it and learn the basics that way.

I grasp the general concepts of layering and such, but I'm having trouble with re-sizing pictures/logos/etc. And for some reason, my font is invisible? Grrr...
Is there maybe a step-by-step somewhere for dummies?

![]() Thanks for the help! Edit - Sorry deleted that card because I wrote the wrong year on it!
