If anything, the cap and salaries will be lower under the new CBA. Owners are claiming poverty, half the league last year had to borrow money to stay afloat.

James(16.5 million per year)

Them three players take up 45 million of their 53 million dollar cap and the problem will only get worse as the salaries increase yearly.

These 3 players could likely get the knicks to the playoffs however this situation isnt near the situation he would be in with the Cavs. Cavs will have a better team and can pay him more.
im pretty sure the knicks would need to relinquish their rights to Lee and all of their other FA's in order to get far enough under the cap to sign 2 max FA's. If they get 2 max FA's, they're basically stuck filling up the rest of the roster with min salary guys. You dont get a exceptions if you are under the cap when FA starts, only if you are over it.

The knicks are going to make a play for james and a big man (either bosh or boozer), but my guess is they get stuck with joe johnson as their big signing (remember he played for d'antoni in phoenix and would still be there if the owners werent so cheap). I predict james stays in cleveland and wade comes home to da bulls.

I don't think the Knicks will steal Lebron James,
King James will stay in Cleveland...

But then why hasnt James signed with Cleveland already? Unless he thinks he can get a bigger paycheck elsewhere. Which most likely is true.

I doubt the knicks are making moves to get stuck with Joe Johnson. I bet they get one of the big 3.

The cap is set as a percentage of projected income, and total player compensation has to be higher than a fixed percentage of all revenue.

It's all percentage based, and the trouble of owners were caused by lower than projection revenues. Since the projection was off by an one time event (economy collapse), I don't see it a big issue in new CBA.
