I was hoping for that!

I was only 15 when the fight happened and hadn't really developed my love of boxing yet. But my brother had and I can still clearly remember him coming home from the pub on the Sunday afternoon after watching the fight, looking all pale like he'd seen a ghost and saying "Mike Tyson got knocked out". He was close to being in shock.

That's all that hit my brain when I saw the title.

Count me in on the Beatles, I'm about to fire up that CD.

The biggest myth is that Tyson was past his prime and he only lost because of his divorce and because of he didn't train and because of a voodoo curse. Douglas kicked the crap out of him and he deserves all the credit in the world. There has never been a version of Mike Tyson that could have beaten James that night.

How quick time flies. I was in my last year of high school when this happened. I was kinda surprised, but not totally shocked. It's a shame that there was never a rematch, maybe Tyson could have won, maybe not, but it would have been great to see one.

Yeah I recall watching it & yelling up to my father who'd just gone to bed that Tyson was knocked out. He came running back down to watch the replay.

They had Buster on ESPN while I was @ the gym @ lunch today but no sound so I couldn't hear what he said.

I remember where I was when that fight broadcast...

I was just out of Navy bootcamp in San Diego and was at the Naval Training Stationi bowling alley. The fight was being shown in the bar, but was too crowded to get in. I remember everyone screaming and yelling when Tyson went down.

Damn... that was 20 years ago ... seems like yesterday.

Tyson was domed when he left Kevin Rooney.

His corner was a joke that night.
Nobody would have won with that corner "Kings goones".

Does anyone know of any fighter that ever got better after hooking up with Don King.

I'm in complete agreeance Douglas was crazy that night but some may say Tyson won the fight as Douglas was down longer then 10 seconds. I'm not of that belief but just playing Devils advocate. I to remember the fight as clear as day I was at a party and everyone was playing cards and round after round I ws just stunned I told them around the fourth round you may wanna get in here Tyson's getting his ass handed to him and is gonna lose this fight. All the credit in the world to Buster for one night he was Incredible.

Twenty years. Wow, I'm getting old. I mentioned this fight to my wife on the anniversary day and we were both surprised. We had forgotten how long ago that was. We did not see the fight live back then but I remember being shocked when the news flash came that Tyson had been KOd.

All I have to say is why didn't Buster give Tyson a rematch that Tyson asked for? Buster Douglas would have clearly made more money fighting Tyson in a rematch than fighting Holyfield.
