Poetic Justice Sports Moments

"Steve Largents toughness was never more evident than in 1988. Denver safety Mike Harden threw a right forearm to the left side of Largent's face, shattering the facemask, dislodging teeth and leaving Largent briefly unconscious and with a sprained left knee. ...

Fourteen weeks later, Harden intercepted a pass intended for Brian Blades and headed up the sideline. Largent took off after him like a cruise missile and hit him so hard he fumbled. Largent recovered the ball. Check it out."

YouTube - Steve Largent Revenge hit on Mike Harden

Found this recently. Had forgotten about it and I don't think many people still remember or even heard about it. A WR gets payback and delivers one of the best hits ever!

Want to see more stuff like this!

Oh wow, and here is the whole story showing the previous play as well. Fantastic stuff! Not only was there the history between Largent and Harden, but one of the Denver players was brawling with Brian Blades of the Seahawks on the previous play.

There's no more like this out there? Man...I guess I'll have to keep watching this one over and over.

I guess this fits the thread:

YouTube - Darcy Tucker hits Sami Kapanen & Jeremy Roenick goal

Here's one from the 2003-2004 NHL Playoffs. Philadelphia Flyers vs Toronto Maple Leafs. Sami Kapanen gets hit into a vicious daze, but minutes later, Jeremy Roenick scores the Overtime goal to end Toronto's playoffs.

...Toronto hasn't made the playoffs since this. Suckers.

It almost looked like he did it to himself. Kapanan had more force going for him...and him, the other player (who didn't really have good position or leverage), and the wall all just kinda met there. The guy who ended up with his bell rung was the guy who was a complete blur headed into the hit. Sometimes it works like that. Just depends where you make contact. Crazy to see somebody like that though after a big collision.

Actually I take that back, they were both headed with the same force after looking at it again. Hard to tell.

And the clip I posted, the 2nd long version...who thinks Denver's Castille (#28) looks totally flamboyantly gay?

Being a Red Sox fan, my favorite "poetic moment" is the final out of the 2004 World Series.

Edgar Renteria (#3) of the St. Louis Cardinals was at the plate. Gabe Kapler (#19) was in right field and Johnny Damon (#18) was in center field.

Though few people realize this coincidence, any Red Sox fan knows the significance of this number. A person sitting in right center field would see #3 (Babe Ruth's number) make the final out, and 1918 (the year the Red Sox last won the World Series and the beginning of the Curse of the Bambino) across the outfield.

For some reason, I can't find the video of the final out, but for anyone who believed in the curse, this was a truly poetic moment.

YouTube - Kovalev Vs. Tucker

Tucker elbows/high sticks Kovalev... who gets the puck back and goes straight back to Tucker.

Epic moment for a Habs Fan -- Leafs hater like me!
