All the best,
Markus
Does this work in conjunction with newly created players for your college league? By that I mean if you typically graduate 150* college players then the next year OOTP creates new freshmen to replace them.

Now if 50* HS players go undrafted and move onto college will the game take that into account and only create 100 new players?

* these numbers were pulled out of thin air and are not based on any league I run

Will the positions of those players be taken into account so things don't get out of balance?

And by "HS players may go to college" I assume only ones with enough talent will move on. Will these guys still have a chance to "blossom" while in college and become "real" MLB prospects?

Sorry for so many questions and understand if you don't have time to answer but thought I'd throw them out there if for nothing more than discussion

Glad you are in better health. Excellent preview. Hope I can scrape up enough cash for the pre-order.

One point is that I'd rather have less features playable in March or April than more features in May or June. It looks like you've already added plenty enough for an upgrade.

And thank-you very much...if only I could repay the hours of enjoyment from your (plural) efforts.

If this includes uncertainty over whether or not a player will be able to play a position at the major league level, sold. As is, fielding development holds absolutely none of the suspense that batting and pitching development do.

Two-way players are just plain fun and the ammy draft updates could be interesting.

wow, that all sounds great, especially the part about the ammy draft slotting system, signing bonuses etc.

Can't wait to pre order.

Thank you for the update, Markus.

I'm curious: how does one get selected to the beta testing team?

Edit: I guess that question has been answered. But...how much free time qualifies as "lots"?

I hate to beat this same drum again, but I sure hope the historical improvements mean enhanced AI that can "see the future" when it comes to future player value, statistics, and end of career.

I like all the fielding stuff and I hope it works. The most important thing for me is for OOTP to stop producing (creating) or developing poor hitting, poor fielding MLB middle infielders (and to a lesser extent 3B). They don't exist in real life.

And I'm glad it can't.

So you like the spectacularly unfair advantage that the human GM has over the AI in this respect? You like the AI trading away a future Hall of Famer in exchange for a player with decent ratings who is about to drop off a cliff in talent because his remaining career is worthless? Even between two AI clubs, the lack of ability to see the future creates absurd trades in historical play.

That is what you get when you play a historical—you have knowledge that the AI will not have. How do you propose giving the AI information about the future? Especially since historicals may not unfold exactly as history did depending on the options chosen?

If you want to put yourself on the same level as the AI, rename all the historical players with random names. Then you'll have little more idea of who's who than the AI. (Well, you might have some clues depending on how you set things up, but you get what I mean in general.)

I'm excited. Nice update list Markus. Looking forward to it.

Now that mass selection is in, maybe I should start trying to drum up support for rehab starts.

You don't want that advantage? Then play fictional but don't lobby to take other people's games away from them. "It's your game, play it your way" includes playing it historical with human foreknowledge.

Personally I don't like to play that way myself so I play fictional. From what you write you should do that too. That way neither we nor the AI have any idea who is going to be what when.

Besides AI's that already know the future sound like a scary Terminator kind of thing.

Never thought of that. I'll have to try it out some time. Thanks.
