Can't make up my mind!
I purchased the gsme friday and can't wait to get into it. Problem is I can't decide "how" to start. I am like this with any sports game I play. It can take days (usually more) to decide who and how to start a season or franchise. Gets rather annoying
. These are the options I am mulling over, would love any feedback, ideas or similar stories.1) start a career as an unemployed manager. pick job in SA or RL. This would let me learn the game hands on (spent hours this weekend reading the online manual..........visine anyone?) and earn a mlb managing/gm job down the road. 2)go back in time and be the expansion Colorado Rockies and start their franchise from the expansion draft on. A little intimidated by all the responsibilities of the GM at the moment. 3)start a game using 2009 mlb teams and take total control of the Reds. Again, lots of responsibilities involved (and learning) with the GM roll. Would also like to say how impressed I am with the OOTP community and support here. Fantasic info and the work you guys do with the mods is truely amazing. After I get comfortable playing one of the above options I plan on creating a full fictional league down the line. Can't wait to use/create logos and uniforms. Thanks for any input guys! |

1) I suggest not starting as a manager in the minor leagues. The game is flawed from this aspect - your big league club will move guys on and off your team without warning constantly. I don't know if OOTPX still does this, but if I remember correctly the game would reset your lineups/pitching staffs each time it made a roster move, too.
2/3) Just jump in with the default settings. Or, to make things a bit simpler, go into your Game Setup and turn off injuries, waivers, the Rule V Draft, option years and other similar things. Makes it a little simpler to learn the ropes of the base game mechanics without being overwhelmed with possibilities and things to pay attention to. Spend some time looking over the preferences, setup and option tabs. Just see what you can/can't turn on and off and what some of the deeper game settings are. Don't worry about having to mess with them, just read them and get a feel for it. |

Thanks, good to know the issue with starting in the minors!
I think I'll take your advice and simplify a quick game. need to get familiar with all the menus and navigation. |

I also can't say if it was changed for 10.4.36. It would be nice if it was... I always start unemployed and try to play a career game. |
