How to fix MLB
Replaces 40 Man Roster with like 70 Man Roster.
Make Rule 5 Draft like Expansion Draft but let say the Red Sox were to Drafted Atkins the Rockies could say you can just have him or ask for something in return.

Well, I won't be voting for you as commissioner when Selig retires, that's for sure!

Why do we need a 70 man roster? 40 works just fine.
Not sure what you mean by the second one... |

True visionaries are always vilified in their own times. His is a call for a return of the reserve system: A sure cure for everything Yankee and Red Sock.

I came into this thread expecting greatness and was left with a feeling of deep disappointment. mgom only has a total of two ideas to fix the sport? Really?
I was expecting a long and heart felt manifesto on the sport and all of it's ills. Instead I got two short sentences and no franchise movement at all. You can do better mgom |

Also DH and Pitcher in the same Lineup.
Expand the Playoff Teams. Inter League play all year round. Radical Realignment. Rule Draft 5 option is just so Non Tendered doesn't have to happen.

I'm not sure you've ever satisfactorily explained exactly what you mean by this.

It all starts and ends with a rock-solid salary cap, at about 100 million.
Add to this a rock-solid revenue sharing program. These two ideas would enable small market teams be completely competitive, just as the Green Bay Packers are currently in the NFL. I would also expand the playoffs, up to about 16 teams. Eight per league, just like in hockey. Eight plays one, and so on. All other adjustments are just that, adjustments. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing more strict rules governing HGH, with a lifetime ban for the first offense. |

Reserve system was what made the Yankees very dominant.

If you have a 70-man roster instead of 40-man, what's available for rule 5 draft would probably be bad enough that nobody would put the drafted on the 25-man roster, therefore making sure nobody would be drafted.
