I used to play that for the PS1! I couldn't get enough of it. Very accurate simulation. Except it uses a point system instead of money and turf races heavily outnumber dirt races. Overall it has UNLIMITED replay value, since you get to buy and breed horses and there are many hidden races to unlock (although I only ever found 2 or 3).

I know there is a new version for PS2, but since I don't own one I haven't had a chance to try it.

Damn shame that particular sport doesn't get enough attention for the bigger game companies to put something out!

got it today ... messed with it a bit ... so far it looks great ... the racing is pretty hard but just started messing with it so we'll see if it stays that way

What version did you get? I just found out there is a 2003 for PS2.

I have a version for the PS1. I believe there's been 3, but most were Japan only I think.

It is VERY cool. Great fun. Only potential problem is if I recall, when you breed horses, you lose the two parents and get a new horse. In theory that means, as there's 1000 horses, eventually you'll run out. Probably around the year 2214

Wife was HUGELY addicted to it. Two player mode is a blast!

One of the best games on the PS1 I'd say. Too bad such innovation never makes it to the PC...
