Royals Expansion 1969

Hi, I would like to manage the Royals in a historical league starting with the expansion draft. I started at 1969, but already had a full roster. How do I start so I manage the expansion draft?

I am controlling the Royals, but the CPU isnt drafting for the other 3 teams, I am in Commish mode. How do i get the CPU to draft for the other 3 teams?

Don't know if I can solve all your puzzles, so here is some info. In OOTP, the game always starts on Jan 1 for the year you select for your historical league. The expansion draft you talk about occurred in the Fall of 1968. So, to get there, you have to start your league on Jan 1, 1968, and sim/play forward until you get to time for the draft. At that point, the draft process should occur in the correct way -- drafting for all the new teams, including KC.

Of course, you may (will) find that KC has different players from the draft than they did IRL. The advantage of starting in 1969 is that all the expansion teams start with the players they actually got in the draft plus actual rookies, etc.

Thanks Steve, I actually did start and 1968 and sim to the October draft. My current problem is while I can draft for the Royals, the CPU isn't drafting for the other 3 teams, it wants me to make every pick.

There should be a button at the bottom that you can select Auto-Draft until Next Human Selection or something like that. Is that what you are missing?

The only other thing I can think of is that the other teams defaulted to having human owners for some reason.

Sorry if I am misinterpreting the problem as well.

I tried resetting all teams to AI controlled and then re-taking the KC job. That hasn't worked. Can't seem to find the "next human pick" button. I played OOTP 09 a decent amount so I'm not a total noob, I must be overlooking something obvious.

There should be an Action or Auto-Draft button along the very bottom of the screen (sorry, I'm not in front of OOTP at the moment so I'm working from memory). It should have the options as listed in the pic below. You should be able to select Until Next Pick by Team.

Yeah, I remember that is the same as the amateur draft in OOTP 09. I can't seem to find the auto-draft anywhere. Either I'm totally overlooking it or somehow I set the game up wrong. Pretty frustrating, I just purchased X last night. I'm thing of re-starting from scratch and seeing if I can get it right. I know its not this difficult.

I can probably help you out more tonight when I'm in front of my PC if you can't figure it out by then.

Alternately, can you post a screenshot of what you see on the draft screen when it is another team's turn and what the problem is? Easiest way to post screenshots is to Ctrl+PrintScrn, then open MS Paint (Start>Accessories>Paint), paste, and save as a jpg file. Then attach to your post.

Attached is a screenshot. I've tried changing all to CPU controlled and then re-taking the Royals job. Can't figure out what I've been missing.

In an unrelated problem, I dl'd the 60's-2000's player pics, 2008 logos from Padres fan site and saved the player pics and ballparks in Pics folder as indicated, Logos 2008 is in Logos. All my players have the team logo as their pic.

I see the problem now. The buttons are hidden behind your icons at the bottom. I've pointed to the button you need to use (I think) in the pic below. It's one of those red buttons down there anyway. You'll need to hide or move your icons, however you do that with a Mac.

If you have the pics before you create the league, you can put them in the photos folder and the game will find them. After you create the league, like in your case, you need to copy the actual pictures (i.e. not the folder they are in) into the \news\html\images folder in your saved game. They will come up then.

The ballparks you will have to change manually in-game from each team's home page. Click on Options and Ballparks, then Edit Ballpark (IIRC). You can edit both a day pic and a night pic.

Thanks man, I knew KNEW it had to be something obvious and dumb. Thanks, look forward to this version of OOTP. Played about 20 seasons in 09 starting at 2008 and enjoyed it very much.
