Post Patch #5: Zero KB exports for an online league team
Our online league is trying to troubleshoot an issue one of it's teams has had since moving to Patches 4 and 5. The issue is 0 KB size exports. The game import error is 'wrong game version' but I'm sure that is just the default error message if the export file is there but cannot be read by the game. The owner in question says his export is 70+ KB in size on his hard drive, yet his exports are 0 KB in size on our server.
My guess: I am wondering if he has a path issue of some kind. He uploads his export from the game, and the game tries to upload it, but perhaps from the wrong folder. It seems possible the game will send a correctly named export file even if that actual file does not exist in that directory, hence the 0 KB export file. Has anyone else ever had issues with 0 KB size export files? If so, what caused it and how did you solve the issue? Note 1: Posted in Technical Support because the issue never came up for this owner or others before patching to patch #4, and it continues now with patch #5. Note 2: We also experienced different ftp upload issues for a different owner when we used patch #4, but applying patch #5 solved his issue. These and other posted issues seem to indicate some changes in the ftp upload code in the recent patches, but I can't figure out why they happen to only a few users. Continuing with the messed up paths theory: Maybe these issues occur to owners who installed OOTPX in a non-default folder (ie. Not "Program Files/Out Of The Park Developments")? |

Update after resolving this posted issue: The solution for us was to have the user uninstall OOTPX, delete the folders that the uninstall skips, and then reinstall using the all-in-one patched full installation file (full install with patch #5).
I believe that the installation of patch#4 messed up his OOTP saved game path info, perhaps due to a non-standard installation location of either the initial game or patch #4. |

Just for clarity's sake, when you say 4 and 5, you actually mean 10.4.29 and 10.4.31? I get a little confused with the numbers.

. In most online leagues these references were to 10.4.29 and 10.4.31, but Patch #4, and the new & improved patch #4 could work too, or "Patch #4" and the "Patch #4 patch".
