And that's a no go. Same error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

It doesn't even start up the licensing dialogue.

Win 7 64-bit, fresh install, DirectX installed.

EDIT: Forgot to do the DEP/runservice stuff. I got the License dialogue to run, installed license and the game runs now.

Man, Markus, why the hoops?

Don't forget to back all of your important files up before you upgrade!

If you're playing pre-1947 American baseball, then the All-American Mod (a namefiles/ethnicites/nation/cities file pack) is for you.

I have it running on a 64 bit version of Windows 7 as well. No problems at all.

What's the "DEP/runservice stuff"?

Just curious, do you have OOTP installed on the SSD and also use the SSD for your saved games folder? Or do you find that OOTP saves' use too much space considering the high cost per gb of SSDs?

I'm thinking about getting a new comp with an SSD for the OS drive (windows 7) and am wondering how OOTP would work with it.

At my wife's request, I have been giving Windows 7 a hard look.

It hurts me to write it, but it's not so bad. It doesn't break easily, it has some nice features, and it is a *huge* improvement over Vista (not that this is a hard thing to accomplish, of course, it's like saying a game is better than OOTP 2006). It's not Linux, but once you tweak it Windows 7 is good enough to use as an everyday OS.

If you've got Vista, upgrade *now*. And then do this to tweak it:

Super Tweaks for Windows 7 by Black Viper

and when you finish you'll actually have a decent everyday OS. (Linux is still much better and far more stable, of course.)

I am shocked. Who would have thought it?

I've been running OOTP X on Windows 7 64-bit for a few months now and I haven't had any problems. The problems I've had are with eLicense and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8 for Windows 7 64-bit version.
