why can't i load the season i started?

New to the OotP game, and I'm not normally a "gamer". I just bought OotPX and love it, and I started a standard MLB season as manager of the Blue Jays and played 4 games pitch by pitch. Won them all, was very happy, and when I quit, the system seemed to be saving the data for me. I got up today, chose the "continue Toronto" option to pick things up at game 5, and got an error saying "ootp cannot load this database because the file world.dat is missing".

I am not a programmer. Don't know my way around that stuff. But can someone please give me easy-to-understand instructions on what I need to do to make the games save in a retrievable way so I don't have to go through this again? Thank you.
