Is this wrong information?
Hi. I'm in a league and have a mac. I was told to just delete all my ootp files and re-download it and then it will work. The league, I think wants to start simming today, but that doesn't make any sense that mac users would just have to re-install everything to get it to work. I just don't want to do something stupid when the patch is still being worked on. Any advice?

Afino had a death in the family, he may not be on very much the next few days.

Ah, man. Sorry to hear that. Best to him then, should you exchange any conversation. Thanks for update.

that they are. With the final final (hopefully) patch in sight- it's not like we'll be waiting months and it is a league, where even a small hiatus doesn't kill them, does it, or does it? -why not just wait until the last of the kinks are worked out, these new concerns addressed, and then all be on the same page relatively quickly out of the box at that point?

So far the biggest issue in my league is that some players upgraded to fit the schedule of other leagues they are in and some needed to wait until the other leagues they are in officially updated - so instantly there was a mix of players in each league that had an hadn't upgraded...then there are the mac users that did or didn't upgrade...so some of my league is now on hiatus regardless of what I do or don't do officially with my league.
All this from being away this weekend and missing out on the release date of the patch... Of course, not that I am complaining - but I urge all leagues not to wait too long to update otherwise is messes up many players in multiple leagues...</rant> |

EVEN back then, though... you could run EXE versions from both patches and be able to run the right one for the given league... alowing you to export for all the leagues you were in. With version 10.2.18 and 10.4.29 that is the case as well (as discribed earlier in this thread). You can run both versions pretty easily without it taking up any more HDD space than the 10+ megs that the additional EXE file will use. |

Yeah, sorry about that. As mikey said, I'm not exactly going to be liberal with my online time in the near term.
Anyways, I created a dummy folder in My Documents (OOTPtemp) that I copied and pasted the .exe into. I try to install the patch to that folder and it still won't let me. |

![]() It probably would have been better if you had waited until you could release all three at the same time and communicated the problems that were taking place. Instead you've left a number of leagues in limbo or with league members who aren't able to export because of version mismatches. Just my , though.

Is the Mac patch delay all because of the same horrible PISD system that "forgets" your serial number all the time? If so, I really hope you guys dump that in the future.

Is installing the 10.2.16 patch and the 10.4.29 patch over each other many times advisable?
I can't get Alan's workaround to work, and my only solution may be to install the correct patch every time I want to switch games. I haven't done this yet as I'm worried about file corruption, but I'm curious. |

Afino, since you are having problems with the patch working correctly, try this as a work around: 1) Have yourself on ootp version 10.2.16 2) In your OOTP program directory (wherever ootp.exe gets installed to), go in and rename ootp.exe to ootp-2-16.exe 3) Patch yourself up to ootp version 10.4.29 This will then allow you to run ootp version 10.2.16 from the ootp-2-16.exe and version 10.4.29 from the ootp.exe file The work around I provided earlier was for people who had already upgraded. Since that is not working for you, try it this way instead

No, it wouldn't have been. The solo player majority should not be made to suffer just to please the online league player minority. Nor should the Windows patch need to wait on the Mac path or the Linux patch, or vice versa. That's just selfish madness.

Suffering and selfishness while describing a fake baseball patch seems pretty ludicrous to begin with. Releasing patches for different platforms at different times is a technical support mess for the few people that give us OOTP and a mess for every customer playing in an online league. Regardless of the #'s of users involved, I would say these headaches out-weigh whatever small benefit was achieved by placating the people crying for a patch on the forums.
