OOTP5 error wirh Screen saver on XP
Here is an interesting bug within the program. I am running MS Windows XP and OOTP 5.1
When I run OOTP5 and must walk away from the computer for a period of time the screen saver mode kicks in. When I return I must complete the usual activites to get back onto the system. However, when returning to the program that is still running I am unable to bring the game back up on the screen. I am forced to end the program through the Windows Task Manager screen. This will frequently result in a loss of data for a period of time. For example, I have just begun a new season. I am now 12-3, but neither my team nor any others have any data saved. Inotherwards, all my pitchers are 0-0, and my hitters are .000. This is the same for all teams. Has any one else received these problems with ootp5 and screen saver?? Thanks |

this was discussed at OOTP5's release. Most running XP have had the problem when their screen saver goes up. Its been suggested that you simply disable or delay the screen saver while playing. There is no other way around it.
I have the same problem, but it really isn't a big deal for me. I just set my screen saver to 10 minutes, and exit the game if I'm ever away longer than that.

Screen savers do not work with quite a few games. It really is not even a good idea to run a screen saver at all, ever, unless you just like the way the screen saver looks. Screen savers were invented to prevent "burn-in" on monitors, but if your monitor was made in the last 5 or 6 years this really is no longer a problem. IMO, screen savers are more problematic then they are worth.

I'm having the same problem with Alt-Tab. If I use the reducing bar in the upper right corner I have no problem coming back to the game, but if I alt-tab out of the game I am unable to come back to it (similar to the screen saver issue). I have XP also.

dont know if this will help but, every time my screen saver runs and I cant get pack into the game, I hit Esc a lot and the game exits and save.
