A couple random questions

I've purchased every version of OOTP since I found Season Ticket Baseball in the bargain bin at Best Buy. I'm not sure what version of OOTP that was, but regardless, I've enjoyed it for quite some time. I never really got into any version after OOTP6.5, mainly because the changed interface and game engine were a lot to take at first. However, I've decided to move on to OOTPX in the last few days, and just have a few questions about the game that I was hoping the more experienced people to the newer versions could help answer.

- Is there anyway to speed my game up? Often times, when simming, my OOTPX will go white, say "not responding" for a minute or two, and then come back. I don't run anything else when playing OOTPX, and am just curious if anyone else experienced this problem? (I'm running on Windows XP, with plenty of GB free, and the computer is a 2-year-old Dell Laptop.) If so, is there a way to fix it? I know I can delete some of the leagues (Feeder leagues, Japanese pro leagues, etc.) but I really enjoy that aspect of my dynasty and want to keep it as realistic as possible.

- If I turn off the "Complete Scouting System" will I still be sent E-Mails about finding hidden talent in other countries? Or is this an aspect of the game that is only available when scouting is available? I really enjoy the scouting part, but the discrepancy between my scout and the OSA ratings are often so different it can get a bit annoying.

Those are my only questions for now, and I dug around a bit to see if they'd been asked before and couldn't find them. Thanks in advance, guys/gals.

I'm a Mac person, so can't say anything useful, except that you probably should post about this is Technical, and/or do some searching. You might get some useful information that way.

My only comment is that it seems incongruous to worry about the discrepancy. The OSA ratings are only created to provide some fodder for BNN reports. There is no reason to expect any convergence between them and your own highly paid, highly talented, highly insightful scouts. I don't know for sure, and must bow to more authoritative answers, but I don't think you will get any scouted international players if you don't have scouts.

OOTP tries to store the game data, the program and perhaps lunch in RAM, the more Ram available the faster you go. The flip side is the less data to store the faster you go.

No talent finds with scouting off.
