10 Reasons We Should Root for the Angels to Beat the Yankees

Why America should root for the Angels over the Yankees -- latimes.com

Quote:
1. The Yankees had their century.

2. The Angels could become the first team to knock the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox out of the playoffs in the same season, ridding us of both the teams that are force-fed to America all summer long.

3. What do the Yankees call a $1,250 seat? Half-price.

4. Torii Hunter! Say anything! Down with the bland corporate personalities of Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira!

5. If the Angels and Dodgers win, how cool would it be to see Gail and Dave Weaver rooting their boys on, wearing those custom-designed, half-Angels, half-Dodgers jerseys?

6. Can you imagine the disgusted looks on the faces of New Yorkers if Joe Torre gets into the World Series and the Yankees do not? Better yet: Jeff Weaver gets into the World Series and the Yankees do not.

7. The Angels have the rally monkey. The Yankees have bleacher creatures.

8. The Yankees charge $20 for a stadium tour. No game included.

9. Biggest contracts in baseball history: 1. Rodriguez ($275 million); 2. Rodriguez ($252 million); 3. Jeter ($189 million); 4. Teixeira ($180 million); 5. CC Sabathia ($161 million).

10. The Angels have won the World Series more recently than the Yankees. America loves a winner.

Hmmm..the Angels are the only team with a winning record against the Yanks going back a decade. The inferiority complex is on the other coast.

Yeah, my dad the Yankee fan was mentioning that he actually wanted Boston to win, because the Angels always seem to beat up on the Yankees.

Me, I dont know who to pull for. Probably the Angels (though partly due to Adenhart which should have been #11 on the list).

I liked the Dodgers without Ramirez when he was suspended. When he came just couldnt pull for them anymore.

I just didnt want the Red Sox to win. So, now anything is good.

A Dodgers/Angels WS would be horrible.

Thankfully, the Phils will be taking care of that issue.

Neither of these options sounds appealing.

Well the Yankees won't be taking care of it.

As long as the Yankees don't win the World Series, it has been a successful baseball season.

I disagree with #10. I usually root for the team that has won it all less recently.

That said, I painfully have to root for the Angels in this one.

10 reasons why the Yankees will not advance to the World Series in 2009...

10. The Yankees can't beat the Angels.
9. They Angels don't lose to the Yankees.(slightly different than number 10)
8. The Yankees are to the Angels what the Red Sox were to the Yankees.
7. Joe Torre cursed them.
6. The new stadium cursed them.
5. The Rally Monkey cursed them.
4. The old stadium cursed them.
3. Babe Ruth cursed them for moving out of the house he built.
2. It's going to be "just another Halo victory"(you gotta know our announcers)

and the number one reason why the Yankees will not advance to the 2009 World Series....

1. bababui is placing a major curse on them as we speak!!

Being a Red Sox fan, I am now rooting for the Angels to win it all.

Oh, come on. There isn't a little part of any of you that wants to see Joe Torre beat the Yankees?

I do. Preferably in a lopsided sweep.

As an Angels fan I'm biased of course, but I definitely approve of this list...

I know that newspapers are hurting, but you'd figure they could have gotten someone with more imagination than that.

This list is missing the number one reason to root for the Angels.

1. Nick Adenhart

That's why I'm rooting for them, anyway.

My newest reason for wanting the Angels in the World Series? I have tickets for game 2!

I've been an Angels fan my entire life and it would be a dream come true to be able to see a World Series game in person.
