Posted this in the back-of-the-box, but it's probably more appropriate here in general features:

Probably up in the queue somewhere, but the ability to select at least two, if not more, individual players for a line by line comparison. Very helpful in trade considerations. Was it the very old Miller & Associates game, Baseball for Windows, that had this capability? Loved it and never forgot it.

Dont know if it has been mentioned. More options to let the ai know what kind of players you want in the draft and in trade. I like and good defensive CF and I should be able to set that. If I want power on the corners then I should be able to set that apart from defense or offense, prospects or vets, and so on.

When playing a game it would be great if the roster change screen did not become permanent without hitting a save or submit button. On more than one occasion I have released the mouse button over the incorrect slot and had a pitcher substituting for a catcher etc. Since that type of error is unlikely in real life it would be nice if we could correct it before the game registers it as an official substitution.

I am not sure if this is in the thread already but I think leagues should have dates for playoff rosters to be set. I beleive this is the case in real life and it would add to the strategy of the game.

I'd like to see real financials for the reserve clause era.

Graphs.

Example: I like to sim historical seasons. At the end of the season, I'd like to revisit the pennant race and be able to see which teams faded - or monumentally choked - down the stretch. If I do a whole season on auto-pilot, it's impossible to tell how the season actually played out beyond the final standings.

It would also be nice to see a player's production graphically represented over the course of his career.

For examples of what can be done, check out FanGraphs.

I have several things I thought were missing in prevvious versions

- I would like to see a job added for manager of a Major league team, not just GM

- I think it is almost needed for ballance to have the player draw a salary, base it much like the other coachs where you earn more as you get better. Having stuff to buy would be nice but really just want the player to have an ability to make more if good, and to empact the team finacially

- I would like more play by play options like charging the 3rd basemen on the pitch, give a runner a green light to steal on any pitch at his degression, with out the batter taking a pitch

- for minors and the ML manager it would be nice if you can tell the GM "I think we need a pitcher" "I would be interested in trading this guy." "keep this guy if at all possible." I get so upset when the take my star players and promote them just to release them. Of course the AI should be able to over turn my suggestions but I would like to at least let them know what I think we need and such.

- Really anything to increase the coaching fill of the game would be great. I am not much for the business side of contracts and minor options. and it seems that as a GM I spend time trying to get a guy to sign and not down playing the game. Though I do want to trust my GM will follow what is best for my style of team.

And Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Clearly the Mayans were right and the world is ending.

Owners with names and personalities.

You could have two different types of owners, individual owners and corporate owners, both of which would have differences. Some owners would be willing to open up the purse strings, while others would only care about the bottom line and run the team like a business.

They could also have a rating based on their degree of interference. Some owners might trust their baseball people to make all the moves, while others could try and force their GM to trade for or sign certain players, or block trades that had already been put together (Peter Angelos says hi). Some owners might also be more likely to fire managers and GMS more quickly, while others would be loyal and stick with you for awhile.

You could even have some owners who would mouth off to the media about the team's performance (let's call this hypothetical owner 'Hank').

Disabling or elimination of minor league contracts, specifically in worlds without minor leagues.

Second an allowance for ties.

Extension of reserve roster size from 0 to 50 inclusive.

Allow "Amateur Draft Number of Rounds" = 0.

If I start without an inaugural draft, where all players are free agents, I find that teams never seem to sign more than a handful of players before the season starts. This doesn't seem to make any sense. Both teams and players should "know" that the season's coming shortly.

If we must have minor league contracts can we at least fix it so in the transactions it doesn't say the human team signed a player to a 0-year minor league contract. All of the AI teams sign them to at least a 1-year contract.

Thanks. Your post reminded me of that.

1) More sortable columns
- Batting vs. Pitching (Player batting tab)
- Team Statistics screens (batting/hitting/fielding) and ability to see all subdivisions at once (i.e. sort stats by all MLB teams)

2) Have a screen that shows Team Batting/Piching Rankings on the Team Statistics section (similar to the list on the Manger Options screen)

3) All-star voting screen where you can see the votes by the fans. Right now cannot tell why Ichiro gets snubbed at AS break despite great national popularity and better stats then those RF selected. Surely would have been voted in by fans and especially true if every team needed an AS representative is not a rule in OOTPX.

4) Option to rename Awards names on the Player History > Accomplishments page. MVP listed as Batter of the Year, GG listed as Best Fielder, etc.

5) Ability to save a preferred lineup so that when someone comes off the DL you don't have to set all 4 lineups again, just select the saved lineup.

6) Custom depth 'starts' option. Currently there is options for backups to start 'never, if stater tired, every 2nd-20th game. Custom would allow every 20th or if starter tired or every 30th game, etc.

1) Show player salary/yrs. left on the trade screen

2) Ability to customize the sim screen (i.e. swap the news column for team batting and pitching stats.

Hey, while I'm thinking of stuff, I think I've noticed that in leagues without postseason tournaments, the players on the season champions aren't given credit for winning a league championship in their individual history. If I'm wrong, someone tell me, but I don't think I am.

That seems like it would be relatively simple to implement.

I'm on a roll.

Why is it that leagues from countries of widely varying talent levels have absolutely no difference in the players they produce? I just generated a world of six national leagues, one each from each tier of "baseball quality" (excellent to non-existent). Presumably because none of the PCMs were modified, all of the leagues had roughly the same caliber of players generated.

If that happens, then the expression of "baseball quality" per nation is cosmetic, I think. I know it matters under some circumstances, but in this particular case, it's essentially irrelevant.

One more, and then I'm done, I promise. Has anyone said anything about pitcher hitting skill? I'm running a fictional league in the 19th century right now; being able to tweak pitcher hitting ability to reflect those times would be kind of cool.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. The eras file should include something about the likelihood of pitchers being capable hitters.
