Arbi Q and Contract Options Q

Ok I have 2 end of season questsions.

1. I have arbi elligibility set to 3 years. To me this would mean guys would have to be into their 3rd year by the end of the season to be Arbi elig. But in my online league the cpu is giving guys in their 2nd season of ML service time arbi contracts. Isn't this always based on ML serive time and not pro time? Why is this happening?

2. In the past versions we would get the mails about option years being up and decisions required. I am trying to test this out at the end of my 1st year of X and I am not seeing any e-mails to the owners for these decisions. Is it that you need to cut a guy if you don't want him, and do nothing if you want to keep him?

Thanks for your help!

Quick update as well.

When looking at a player in question it says arbitration status. "not yet but possibly eligible after this season"

But he has already gotten a arbi contract?

ML service time (as of 11/1 after season ) 2 years 74 days.
Time as a professional- 3 years 137 days (i know this cannot be right since every minor leaguer acrues service time).

In OOTPX they have included something called "Super-2" Arbitration eligible players. Like the MLB it is supposed to be the top percentage of playing time players with more than 2 years of MLB experience but less than 3 that also qualify for arbitration.

On the arbitration screen, if any of those 2 year players have an Asterisk by their name they are a super-2 arbitration player.

As for the emails, they still are sent out. They go out the very first day of the offseason (1 day after the playoff stage ends and the game flips to offseason stage)

Thanks for the info about the arbi!

As for the mails. I wonder if by being in commish mode I did not see the mails. They don't expire until after arbi as well correct? So I would be safe by sim-img a few more days and not making anyone lose players or keep ones they don't want?

Ok I have yet another Q about Arbi/ Super 2 players

This imediate past off season a team had 2 very good MR just cut loose by the AI.
Neither had been listed as arbi elig and neither showed up on the Arbitration in game to even offer them one.

Here is their info

Player A
24YO MR (886 out of 886)
ML service 2ys 74 days
Service time this year 137 days
TIme on 2ndary 2y 74d
Time as pro 5y 137d.
Salary GRID in game says he should be getting min 300K next season

Player B
27YO MR 9-5-6 out of 9-6-6
ML service 2ys 74 days
Service time this year 137 days
TIme on 2ndary 2y 74d
Time as pro 4y 137d.
Salary GRID in game says he should be getting min 300K next season

Any help as to why the AI would dump the player to FA would be great

The commissioner does not see the emails unless they are logged in as a specific team. Those messages go directly to the team itself.

Normal arbitration players default with -some kind- of offer to them. So if the team owner misses to export in that sim, the players at least had the default offer and don't lose the players by default.

Super-2 players however currently default to having no offer. So if you don't go in to export for the sim, their default 0 offer means they get no arbitration offer and instantly become a free agent. (This is changed in the next patch where they will also default to having an offer).

The problem with these 2 players was I still have the old file from arbi on a 2nd machine. They did not show up at all on the teams arbi screen. I am not sure if only a certain # of players would show up. The team had 11 arbi eligble players 4 of which are super 2's (not including the 2 above).

I am also assuming MR has nothing to do with it either.

Incidentally all the players released this way in the league (8) have the exact same # of ML service time in 2 yrs 74 days. And none of them showed up on the in game arbi screen to even offer them a contracts.

Edit: Thanks Alan for the reply as always!

There is a seperate bug that is also fixed in the next patch where in some cases a league may have more super-2 eligible players with the -exact same- service time. The game incorrectly rotated between the players daily in regards to which ones would be the super-2 eligible ones. Up to the point where you really had to check every day to make sure you didn't miss one. (which in an online league is virtually impossible).

What I have done temporarily in my online leagues to address this is until the next patch, I look for which players were released on arbitration day only. Any of those with less than 3 years of service time were super-2 players. I then just assign them a one year contract equal to the "estimated salary" on their player page and give them back to the teams.

Thankfully this is fixed in the next patch.
