Player Aging?

Hey guys

I've read a lot of these posts but I don't believe I have found the answer. I have noticed that in OOTP 10 players tend to retire/fall off ability-wise around 36-37. I have created a fictional league and would prefer to have some players play to 40 or so somewhat effectively. If the age factor is set at 1.000 what do I need to change it to so that the players age slower?

Thank you for your help.

Player aging factor

Hi,

You would need to lower the batter and pitcher aging speed. 1.000 is MLB compatible. .900 the players ages slower and will maintain their skills longer. 1.500 the player will age and lose their skills faster. You will need to play around with the number to get exactly what your looking for. I woul lower it slowly and sim out seasons until you get the results that you like.

Thank you. I have it set at .9. I was worried that I had went the wrong direction...

You'll have to go to .750 or .500 to see those 40 y/o players.

FWIW,

1.51 Batter Aging
.651 Batter Development
1.31 Pitcher Aging
.711 Pitcher Development

Keep in mind however, and I'm not statistical guru, that these impact the growth of the players in your league created with your specific player-creation modifiers. So if you are in a position where your youngsters, like mine, are rarely created with exceptional star quality, obviously their careers may be limited and those with higher end ratings and/or performances- whether amateur or existing -will tend to have longer careers.

Are you sure that those are the settings you use? They seem backwards. 1.51 aging would make the player age quicker and retire earlier and .651 development would make them develop later.

Yeah, that's them. Though I haven't exhausted (well, let's be honest, I haven't done much research at all in X in this area with the introduction of the pitching model and its stamina issues) the possibilites, the long term simulations I ran to examine whether the modifiers for my converted league from 9 would hold up, indicated I could stay within a range of RonCo's early findings in that version: http://www.typosphere.com/Age_and_De..._Modifiers.pdf

I didn't want to take my current league ahead (it would be like seeing into the future! I didn't want any spoilers) but created one very much like it and simmed a few years. I'd say, given my expectations in my world, that it falls in line with my ambitions. I'm sure they wouldn't be to everyone's liking, but e.g. of say, the ~40 oldest each of pitchers (either role) and hitters, about 4-5 years down the line I end up with ~6-8 pitchers 39+ and maybe 4-5 hitters 39+. As they say, your mileage may vary. I'm sure a lot of other factors play into this, but the model - as I want it to perform - "seems" to project rather adequately compared to RonCo's targets, but more specifically my own. I'd never be able to analyze the thing that deeply. I'm sure you could, though.

I'll have to play around with the settings a bit. I use:

Batting Development 1.5
Batter Aging 0.6
Pitcher Development 1.5
Pitcher Aging 0.6

I hope that I am not doing this backwards. I am only 2 seasons in so I have no data to look at to determine if the settings are accurate. I am going to make a copy of the league and sim ahead 50 years to make sure I have the correct settings. Thank you Endgame for sharing your settings.
