High Stamina, But only two pitches

Player Report for #1 David 'Bye Bye' Edwards

He has only two pitches but they're both 10s. He is really in a class on his own with his ratings. He also has 7 stamina. He was awfully good as the closer of my team last season, (I only began managing late into the season). I am curious if you feel that he could be a dominant starter. His ratings as a closer are even more ridiculous than what he currently has. I let him start for the last 4 games of this season and he did pretty well.

8 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 Ks
7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 10 Ks
8 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 Ks
7.1 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 Ks

Seems like he could be a pretty good starter with only two pitches in this small sample size. What do you think?

I had a guy very similar to this once who I converted to a starter - 2 dominant pitches, high stamina. He was great the majority of the time and was a real anchor for the rotation. I think a guy with 2 awesome pitches has surely got to be better than a guy with 3 average pitches.

The only problem with my guy (I can't remember his name) was that he got injured pretty regularly .... but so did everyone else on the team.

Fastball and Sinker, not to mention 67 percent ground ball percentage in a league where there a ton of small ball parks.

Two great pitches and a high endurance? I've said it many times—these guys do fine as starters.

One issue with OOTP is that a pitcher with this repertoire would get POUNDED if they went more than 5 innings. There is a difference between a pitcher with a plus sinker and a plus curveball.

A pitcher with a '10' curveball and a '10' fastball would likely succeed in a starting role (see Erik Bedard), but a pitcher with a '10' sinker and '10' fastball would get crushed by opposite-handed hitters.

Brandon Webb pitching sinker 80% of the time was a bad idea then.

True, Webb's best pitch is the sinker, but he gets left-handed hitters out by mixing in effective off-speed pitches (change and curve).

I guess this was an imported league. OOTP 10 does not create pitchers with a repertoire solely with a fastball and sinker.
