Minor League Free Agency and the 60-day DL

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but looks like it might be....

Had a pitcher on a computer controlled team who was ranked the #20 Prospect in the league. He got hurt and was listed as being out for 8 months. Computer put him on the DL and when the off-season rolled around, he became a minor league free agent. The year before he had his first taste of the big leagues, so he had to have been on the 40-man roster, but the 60-day DL removes a player from that roster and would seem to possibly allow the player to become a minor league free agent, which should not happen.....

The player signed with some one else and in January he was rated as the #15 prospect, so it wasn't that his old club didn't want him anymore because the injury had turned him into a non-prospect.....

In my current online league, we were just informed that the 60-day DL does not delay the accumulation of ML service time at all. I will try to get more details so that this can be listed properly as a bug, but this seems like a pretty big issue that we ought to try to get in before the final patch.

EDIT: Never mind. Apologies.

Well, the 60-day DL doesn't delay MLB service time in real life, so why would it in the game?

You are correct. I apologize; I was misinformed previously.

The problem I am reporting has nothing to do with a player on the 60 day DL accruing service time. The problem is that since the guy is not technically on the 40 man roster, he is being granted free agency and this should not be so.....

I was responding to the other post.

In your case, he actually should be a free agent, but only technically because IRL you have to remove everyone from 60-day DL by the November 40-man roster deadline.

The computer GMs should not be losing 4 and 5 star prospects who are on the DL.......
