LA Dodgers continue playing .500 ball !!

Not what the Dodgers were looking for in May. After an 8-8 record in April we wanted to gain some ground and we started May by winning 6 or our first 8 and things were looking good. Then it turned as we finished May 14-15. One game under .500 and playing in 4th place in the NL West. The team is hitting but they are NOT pitching. LA is 3rd in Batting Average, 4th in OB-percentage, 4th in Runs Scored, 6th on OBPS and 2nd in hits. Pitching is not as good as we are 13th in ERA, 14th in Starters ERA, 8th in Bullpen ERA, 14th in HR's allowed and 13th in Walks. We may need to make some changes.

HOT PLAYERS IN MAY:
Rafael Furcal .379/.421/.543 4-HR/5-Doubles/9-Stolen Bases
James Loney .330/.408/.504 3-HR/11-Doubles/33-RBI-lead the team
Blake DeWitt .324/.383/.583 5-HR-lead the team/7-Doubles/17-RBI
Manny Ramirez .349/.472/.663/1.135 OPS 5-HR/11-Doubles/22-RBI
Casey Mulligan 1.96 era/18-inn/13-hits/4-runs/6-BB/14-K (not bad for rule5 pickup)
Jonathan Broxton 2.04 era/4-saves/17-inn/16-hits/4-runs/11-BB/16-K

NOT SO HOT PLAYERS IN MAY:
Andre Ethier .229/.328/.352 3-HR/4-Doubles/13-RBI
Orlando Hudson .257/.362/.367/1-HR/9-Doubles/11-RBI/0-Stolen Bases
ALL Starting Pitchers...Lowest ERA is 5.60 (Randy Wolf) Chad Billingsley 9.90 ERA
ALL Relief Pitchers except for the two above in "hot".

Injuries:
Chad Billingsley only pitched in 3 starts in May. Is back to begin June
Rafael Furcal just went down and is gone for 15 days.

QUESTION?
Manny Ramirez just contacted me and would like to play for LA for two more years at 8-mil per. Would you take this aging veteran? We have a good LF at Triple-A Ready to go next year.
Manny is 3rd on the team with a .340 ave. Leads the team with 12-HR. Tied for the team lead with 14-Doubles. 2nd on the team in RBI's with 37. He played bad last year but is playing good this year. What to do? Any help?

Minor Leagues:
Albuquerque leads their league at 27-24 at Triple-A
Inland Empire leads their league at 35-15 at Single-A

Minor League Players:
AAA-SP-Ethan Martin 4-2/11-Starts/3.86 era
CL-Scott Elbert 1-1/ 13-saves/ 2.31 era
3B-Joshua Bell .288 ave/12-HR/47-RBI
LF-Andrew Lambo .289 ave/11-HR/31-RBI
AA-SP-Chris Withrow 7-2/11-Starts/1.90 era (Can't Wait for this guy)
SP-Brett Cecil 7-3/10-Starts/3.93 era (waiver pickup from Toronto)
LF-Alfredo Silverio .353 ave/14-HR/40-RBI

(Single-A look next month)

Dodgers decide that enough is enough !

6/14/09 - The LA Dodgers said it was time to something about what was happening in LA. Doger GM Barry Diamond today pulled the trigger on a trade. Today the Dodgers sent 24-year old minor league relief pitcher Scott Elbert (2-2 with 15-saves and an era of 2.28) to the Toronto Blue Jays for starting pitcher Scott Richmond (3-5 with a 5.76 era).

Barry Diamond was quoted as saying, "I have had enough of our bad starting pitching and it is time to do something about." Richmond was put right into the Dodgers rotation.

The Dodgers keep wheeling and dealing !

6/22/09 - The Dodgers who have been trying to upgrade their starting rotation just days ago brought in SP-Scott Richmond today made a trade with the Chicago White Sox. The Dodgers who have been impressed with the play of SS-Devaris Gordon (.311 BA, 8-HR, 3-Triples, 16-Doubles and 26-stolen bases - 5-CS) so they have sent minor league SS-Chin-Lung Hu (.217 for LA and .309 for Albuquerque) to Chicago and in return they recieved SP-Jeff Niemann (1-4 and 6.51 era in 14 games).

GM Barry Diamond said this afternoon, "I know the two starting pitchers that we have picked up in trades has been kind of shakey for their old team, but I have confidence in our scouts about Niemann and Richmond."

Dodgers still playing .500 ball !

7/1/09 - June looked a lot like the past couple of months as again we played around .500 ball. We went 13-12. Early in June we were around .500 and we were 9-games out. Something had to be done so we gave up a couple of younger players to bring in some starting pitching (see above). At the beginning of the month our starting pitching was taking a hit, but at the end of the month they begin coming around as 5 pitchers make the Hot list for the past several games while no hitters are on that list.

HOTTEST PLAYERS IN JUNE
Orlando Hudson .326/.400/.516 10-Doubles lead team/17-runs lead team
James Loney .330/.406/.468 19-RBI lead team/ 3-HR lead team
Russell Martin .379/.446/.529 33-hits lead team/16-RBI/11-runs
Manny Ramirez .307/.395/.400 13-RBI 3rd on team/27-SO lead team
Endy Chavez .375/.394/.469 part time play only 32-AB for the month
Hiroki Kuroda 3.09era/1-0/5-starts/32-inn/27-hits/18-BB/19-SO (too many Walks)
Matt Harrison 2.33era/1-1/4-starts/27-inn/15-hits/9-BB/20-K's
Christopher Blazek 1.32era/13-inn/14-hits/4-runs 2-earned
Casey Mulligan 1.59era/11-inn/5-hits/14-K's but 10-walks

NOT-SO-HOT Players in JUNE
Andre Ethier .230/.292/.276 1-HR/1-Double/11-RBI
Juan Pierre .241/.262/.276 2-Doubles/3-RBI/9-Stolen bases lead team
Chad Billingsley 4.36era/1-2/33-inn/34-hits/16-runs in 6 starts (Has been better lately)
Cory Wade 7.36era/14-inn/18-hits/12-runs in 14-games (recently traded for prospect)
Clayton Kershaw 7.43era/13-inn/14-hits/13-runs (recently sent down for new SP)
Randy Wolf 7.04era/7-inn/12-hits (has been on the DL, just came off today)

The NEW guys...how have they been doing?
Scott Richmond 0.75era/1-0/2-starts/12-inn/6-hits/1-run/5-SO/8-walks
Jeff Niemann 1.35era/2-0/2-starts/13-inn/9-hits/2-runs/3-walks/11-SO

Was getting tired of waiting around for this team to perform, so it was time to shake things up a bit. James McDonald has not been pitching well either and there is thought of making him into a reliever. The young kids at Triple-A are performing well SP-Ethan Martin, LF-Andrew Lambo, and surprize player SS-Devaris Gordon.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2010 Draft Results !

June 15, 2010 the MLB draft was held and here is who the LA Dodgers drafted.

RF-Harlan Griffith (Rd.1-Pick 22) - Logan White Scouting Director says, "The type of player you can build a franchise around. Supperstar potential. Will start in rookie league - Arizona Dodgers

2B-Michael Everett (Rd.1-P 33-Supp) - "Has a really high ceiling. Has a few things to work on but should be a star". Rookie league with Arizona Dodgers.

LF-John Reed (Rd.2-P 50) - "Needs to refine his game but should be a star" Rookie League with Arizona Dodgers.

SP-Ernesto Yanez (Rd.2-P 65) - "Projects to be a set-up man and a rally stopper" However, he has the stamina to be a starter and that is where he is at in rookie league - Arizona Dodgers.

SP-Gonzalo Soto (Rd.3-P 95) - "Should fill out a bull-pen with long inning relief" However, Soto to will be a starter for the time being. Projects higher than Yanez at the moment.

RP-Masuhiro Yamaguchi (Rd.4-P 125) - "Not spectacular but will be serviceable"

LA Doders still struggling !

August 1, 2010

July was tough but we are still close to .500 ball as we went 12-15. Overall, we sent in next to last 11 games behind the Giants at 47-51. No matter what we do we just can not make up any ground. So, we started to see what we can find on the trade front. RP-Cory Wade 5.88 in 41 innings was our worst relief pitcher and it was time to start moving some guys that were not performing. Wade and SP-Josh Wall (no upside at all in A ball) went to the New York Mets for Minor league Catcher Francisco Pena who has some power and will be the backup behind Russell Martin next year. It also brought in SP-Brandon Moore. Logan White (scouting director) does not like him much, but he has a ton of potential. July 6th we lost LF-Manny Ramirez for the season. He wants to come back to LA for $8-million. He has been lost around the same time the last two years, so Manny is done in LA. Juan Pierre has also asked for a trade but can not be moved with that salary. If we paid the money we can move him, just don't know if we want to do that. We keep looking for arms and the Texas Rangers have been trying to dump SP-Thomas Diamond so we decided to take him. We sent RF-Xavier Paul to Texas for Diamond plus a couple of minor leaguers.

HOT PLAYERS IN JULY:
SS-Rafael Furcal .360/.426/.568 6-HR (team lead) 19-RBI (team lead)
1B-James Loney .358/.397/.486 8-Doubles (lead team) 15-RBI (second)
CF-Juan Pierre .321/.346/.449 8-Doubles (lead team)
RF-Andre Ethier .310/.383/.405 (only 13 games due to injury)
SP-Jeff Niemann 2.20era/1-3/32-inn/28-hits/8-ER
SP-Hiroki Kuroda 2.97/1-0/30-inn/33-hits/5-w & 14-SO
RP-Hong-Chih-Kuo 0.84/2-0 1-sv/21-inn/13-hits/2-runs

NOT-so-HOT PLAYERS IN JULY:
CF-Matt Kemp .241/.294/.456 4-HR/12-RBI
OF-Endy Chavez .242/.281/.319 1-HR/4-Doubles
SP-Chad Billingsley 4.70/2-1/30-inn/34-hits/18-runs
SP-Randy Wolf 5.91/0-2/21-inn/20-hits/14-er
SP-Matt Harrison 6.41/1-1/19-inn/28-hits/enough said
RP-Everyone else except Kuo!!

Just have not found what it is going to take to get this team rolling. Is Joe Torre getting too old to run the Dodgers? Maybe I need to be fired? Only time will tell, but we have got to start playing some ball.
