Fictional, Potential-Only League Looking For A Few Good Owners

The Rising Star League is about to enter its seventh season of online-play, and its 25th season of existence. This will be our first season on OOTPX, and we've just entered what will be a very busy offseason! I'm here to recruit a few new GMs now that we're on the latest version of the game. Having just converted, and expanding from 22 teams to 24 teams this offseason, we've got a few teams in need of GMs. I'll go over those teams in detail shortly.

The RSL is a completely fictional league. We use a talent-only system, so current player ratings remain hidden. We sim one week at a time, four times a week: Sunday Night, Tuesday Evening, Thursday Evening, and Saturday Morning. These are the basics, but a full set of our rules can be found here, or by following the link in my signature. Besides the regular day-to-day operation rules, we also have a detailed system for stadium expansion, new stadium construction, as well as stadium naming rights. If you're interested in joining, it's worth reading the rules in full.

Here's a link to the league reports.

Here are the teams which are available at this moment:

New York Patriots

The Patriots aren't in great shape right now, but could be in a few seasons. They lost 102 games last season, so they'll be receiving the fifth overall pick in the next amateur draft (the expansion teams are drafting 1st and 2nd). In addition, they've got one of the top prospects in the league already, Elmo Englehardt, who tore up Single-A last year and is just 20 years old.

The Patriots also have other decent young major-league talent in the field, but pitching is extremely thin. Outside of Ryan Bodin, who contended for Rookie of the Year two seasons ago, the cupboard is pretty bare in New York. However, it's the perfect market to go out and open up your checkbook in, so no problem is too big for a GM who isn't afraid of the risks that go with making a big splash.

New Orleans Nighthawks

New Orleans has had its ups and downs in the last few seasons. After a playoff berth in 2011, the Nighthawks had a dreadfully disappointing season in 2012, finishing well under .500. They were able to rebound and post a respectable season last year, returning to their winning ways, but there are financial troubles on the horizon. Well, not so much "on the horizon" but more like "knocking on the locker room door." The Nighthawks new GM will have to be able to navigate the financial sea of red that the team finds itself moored in.

This is not a team lacking talent, however. The Nighthawks have been built into a formidable foe, with solid, young starting pitchers (defending Pitcher of the Year Joaquin Sousa), excellent bats (perennial Hitter of the Year finalist Pedro Vega, 5-tool-player extraordinaire Jesus Luzuriaga), and young talent in the pipeline. Unfortunately, their financial situation is untenable. Moves will have to be made, and the team needs a shrewd GM who can step in and start figuring out how to make the money work for next year.

Boston Greens

The Greens have been a powerhouse lately, with two League Championships and three 100+ win teams in the last five seasons. But, befuddlingly, the Greens finished just 80-82 last year. Their current GM is looking to make his mark as an Expansion Team owner, so the team is looking for a new man to reroute the ship back to the promised land. Like New Orleans, the Greens operated at a loss last season, but their situation is much more stable. There are big contracts here though, so adding further immediate talent through free agency may be difficult. Still, the talent is still here to win games.

So there you have it. We've got a great league, with great owners. We're just looking to add a few more while we grow the league this offseason. If you're interested, make sure you read through the rules just so you're fully aware of what you're getting into. Then shoot me a PM either on these forums, on our league forums, via Email (GMYale at gmail dot com), or by replying to this thread with your contact info. Of course I'm willing to answer any questions you might have, so feel free to send me any kind of query. Thanks for your time.

I have been trying to view the rules but it appears your forum is down or the links are busted. At any rate I'd like to give New Orleans a shot. Navigating a team out of the red is something id like to try.

All of the above vacancies have been filled, but another team has become available.

Chicago Phantoms

The Phantoms have been a powerhouse team in recent seasons, coming off of a 98-win season last year and having represented the Western Conference in three of the last five League Championships. They boast arguably the game's best player, Neville Eastin, as well as an excellent-if-aging pitching staff featuring stars like Bartolo Roa, Carlos Valle, and augmented by effective youngsters like Michael Brown.

Unfortunately, the team operated at a loss of over $18 Million last year. Obviously, being so successful for periods of time takes its toll, but the Phantoms' payroll is north of $130 Million again this year, so there's very little wiggle room in terms of contracts and finances. Still, the market is one of the tops in the league and the team can claim to have some of the most loyal fans behind them.

If you're interested in taking over the Phantoms, please get in touch with me either through PM here, or by Email (GMYale at gmail dot com). Given the Phantoms' current situation and talent levels, I'm really like to find a reliable and experienced owner to take the reins.

Hope you hear from you guys soon!
