Game Crashes on Autoplay

I am 10 years into a game and have reached a point when I try to autoplay to the next day (or week), OOTP X just crashes. I tried manually playing each game scheduled that day and then autoplaying, and it still just crashes. I'm using the Mac version on OS 10.5.7. Is there any way to resurrect this game, or am I stuck with starting over (which, frankly, I won't be in any rush to do)?
