He was playing in the youth system of one of Argentina's biggest clubs by age 8. I think he had his fair share of manicured fields.

The invasion of foreign players into the EPL lately has turned the league into the best in the world today perhaps. Hope I don't offend the brits now but you only have to go back 10-15 years and the football in England was like watching a L1 game today. Lot's of long balls and very little in the technical department to get escited over. |

Have you seen the fields in South America even some of the top teams would compare to probably non league football for the quality of pitches they play on.

Nice little match shaping up here between Mexico and Costa Rica in the semi's of the Gold Cup. CR scored in the last 30 seconds of regular time to tie.

Swedish players in general tend to work hard without complaining and that is appreciated in Brittish football. Brolin's legacy is not one that I would appreciate as a former player. It is a bit sad imo as I would argue that he was one of the best in the world before his leg injury. After that, he was never the same and we all know that his stints in England wasn't very succesful. A high profile Swedish sports journalist made a comment a couple of years ago (when he thought that the mic was turned off) and said that Brolin was one of the most bitter persons that he had met. |

Tommy how would you rate Eric Edman ? This is his second season at Wigan but because of injury he's only played 7 games for us.

Not happy about the US result in the finals obviously but more so in the performance. I don't care if it was their B team Mexico was also without some of their top players and a 5-0 loss is inexcusable. To be honest the top teams in the tournament US, Mexico, Cost Rica, and Honduras didn't even have their top players playing for the most part so I am questioning the purpose of the competition in general. If national sides aren't going to at least take seriously than maybe it's time to just simply not play it. No one wants to pay money to go to stadium and see the US B and C teams.
In my personal world of football/soccer I had an interview yesterday for the assistant coaching position I had previously mentioned. It's a Division 1 school right outside of NYC so it would be a great opportunity. I thought the interview went well. The coach was a real nice guy, he was impressed with my resume and experience etc. He did a lot of the talking describing the position, introduced me to the various members of the athletic department, showed me a lot of the facilities, had me meet the team captain and let her give me a tour around campus, and also bought me lunch. I thought it went well considering everything but you can never tell with these things. The one thing that possibly is a good sign is that he did try to seem to sell me on the position which I thought was a good indicator. The only thing is that I was the first of three people being interviewed and I just feel that since there are already two males on the staff he may be inclined to bring in a female which is understandable. I should know by thursday hopefully so we'll see. |

Does your resume have any Football Manager/WWSM experience listed? That's a deal sealer right there! Good luck man.

Can someone on here explain, to a soccer newbie, how the transfers and loans work in the world of soccer?!?!

A loan on the other hand is usually a bigger team sending a young player to another team to give him experience, an example being again the Boston Red Sox sending say Josh Reddick to someone like the Nationals or Pirates knowing he'd get more chances to play and gain some experience, a time frame is agreed say for half a season or a full season and the Red Sox would still pay his salary or an agreed % of it. Hope this helps in someway. |

To add what UK said. You are paying for the right to negotiate a contract with that player. You are technicaly not playing for the player himself. You are giving his team a lump sum of money (or money over a period of time) in order for you to offer a contract for him.
So there are two parts. The transfer phase were teams bid on the player and then the contract phase where a player and his agent work out a contract. There are times when multiple bids are accepted and the player has multiple contracts in front of him to choose from. UK was not wrong. But I did want to clear up that a little bit. |

Transfers work exactly the same way as the Daisuke Matsuzaka signing did.

Fox Football Fonein returned today and the guy who basically started it and carried it was fired for some comments he made about the Hillsborough incident and Liverpool fans. Nick Webster returns and Eric Wynalda replaced Cohen.
I wont watch this show. Cohen was what made it good. Webster is a sad little company man who didnt have the cajones to tell what club he supported. In Websters own words, he is a Billy BigBoots with not much to say. Couldnt care less about Wynalda and while Im American I dont care about the MLS. Maybe one day. Maybe when they run it like a real league. Hate to say this and I know its negative, but I hope this show fails and fails miserably. I feel FSC stabbed Steve in the back and Nick Webster's ego is tricking him into believing that he can helm the show. Its a real black day for me because I really liked this show, as far as it had fallen with Nick Webster and his FSC-centric views.

They fired Cohen over that? That was months ago.
Does he still do World Soccer Daily?
