New Here

I downloaded the demo of OOTP 10 today still trying to figure it out, if I really like the demo I will purchase the game. I have re playing past seasons on Baseball Mogul 2010, I just completed replaying the 1952 Boston Braves and the 1953 St Louis Browns seasons and now replaying the 1957 Brooklyn Dodgers season. I sure hope that I will be able to do 1950's and 60's replays on OOTP 10.

Quite simple, really, though OOTP isn't necessarily the best for exact replays. It excels more at alternate history and fictional leagues, in my opinion.

OK how would you set the game up to play lets say the DODGERS in 1950 ?

I play a lot of 1950s-1960s (the Giants, of course )

There is no special trick to setting up any historical league, and taking control over any of the teams. The big problem that some OOTPers have, is that they expect too much adherence to what actually took place. A good example would be trades. The game isn't going to make the same trades as occurred then. Injuries are another type of event that can change what happens in the game from what happened in real life. OTOH, there are two options in the game -- recalc and retire according to history -- which causes historical players to have careers fairly similar to what they were in real life. That makes the game too predictable for me, but they are very good tools for people who don't like their alternate history to be too alternate.

Thanks. I have played enough historical games on BM 2010 to know that outcomes can be diffrent and the trades too

One other question I have, I hope this does not sound to stupid. I have been able to figure out how to get to the game schedule, but all the options are WATCH GAME. How to I take control of 1 team to play the computer ?

In the Game Menu, there are two selections: Add/Edit Human Manager and Select Human Manager. Use them in that order to put yourself in control of (being "employed by") one of the teams.

If you just want to control one of the sides in one game, you have to make yourself Commissioner first. Then you can pretty much do whatever you want to do.

OK I got that figured out I was able to create a 1955 league and take control of a team by myself. Now when you are playing in that mode how to you change pitchers and bring in a relief pitcher and how do you bring in a pinch hitter ? Thanks everyone for your help so far.
