Oddity

I ran into an oddity in a game, and I was wondering whether anyone else had seen it. My pitcher got injured throwing the final pitch in the top of the fourth. He was due up in the bottom half, so I put a pinch hitter in instead of a pitcher. But when I tried to replace the pinch hitter in the top of the fifth, I couldn't drag and drop him. The pinch hitter walked a man, then I was able to get another pitcher in.

No harm done (my utility infielder pitched four balls and recorded his first - and last - ever win ), but has anyone else ever come across this? Unfortunately, this happened a while before I signed up for the forum, so I didn't save a screenshot or any data. Just wondering whether this was something wrong with my computer (screen moving so slowly that it seemed like I couldn't drag and drop), or whether this has happened to anyone else.

The Pitcher injury issue is a known bug, but I'm not 100% sure of its status. Do you have the latest patch?

You should post this in the Tech support forum to ensure it gets logged.

This is a glitch that has existed in all versions of the game since I started playing it. If the pitcher is hurt on the play that results in the last out of an inning, the game forces you to replace him immediately with a player that must be designated as the new pitcher, not a pinch hitter. If you select a position player for that spot in the order, he must face at least one batter before he can be replaced.

I suppose we could put this quirk in the catagorey of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing".

This ties into a recent thread about pinch-hitters hitting so poorly. Someone mentioned a "work-around" that involved subbing the pinch-hitter as pitcher to see if the ph would have better results...

Well, after that inning it seemed the game wanted my pinch-hitter to face a batter. I ended up doing a double switch to get an actual pitcher in the game.

I'm running 10.2.16, which I think is the latest. I've just posted this in the tech forum.

So after the inning was over, did you switch his position from PH to P and then try to sub him out?

When I have run into this situation, the game doesn't allow me to begin the next half inning after the injury until I designate someone in the lineup as pither and that player must pitch to at least one batter the next time the other team is up.

If you were to switch to pitch-by-pitch mode then throw a pitchout, would that allow the substitution after one pitch?
